My choices were (Don't You) Forget About Me and Material Girl. The other choices were good, too. They all capture '85. :)

"Money for Nothing" and "(Don't You) Forget About Me". "Sussudio" must be cast back into the pit whence it crawled.

I picked " Money For Nothing" and "Shout" because both songs evoke such strong memories of that year for me. They were both "summer" tunes, and a lot happened that summer. 8)

Money For Nothing (Because it's Dire Straits)
and
Shout (Because it's a good song with a real '80s feel to it)

My choices exactly, but the other way round. Does anybody know if "Don't You Forget About Me" was written esepscially for The Breakfast Club? I suspect it might have been, as there are lined from the song that fit the movie all too well:
"I'll be alone, dancing and you know it...."
"When you satand above me, look my way, but never love me...."

Out of what's listed I went with
Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
--and--
(Don't You) Forget About Me - Simple Minds
But for 1985, these are my favorites
There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart) -- Eurythmics
Method of Modern Love -- Hall & Oates
One Wish -- Hiroshima
Into the Groove -- Madonna
If You Were Here Tonight -- Alexander O'Neal
Perfect Way -- Scritti Politti
Head Over Heals -- Tears for Fears
Treat Her Like a Lady -- Temptations
We Don't Need Another Hero -- Tina Turner
Overjoyed -- Stevie Wonder
Oh Louise -- Junior
:)

Somewhat tough choice for me, although I only liked a couple Madonna songs and a couple Phil Collins/Genesis songs, so that made it slightly easier to pick..almost had to flip some coins to do this one, but ended up with Simple Minds & Dire Straits. ÂÂ
Anyway, I didn't go any farther then just seeing that they have a site, so I don't know what content if any is in it, but apparently Simple Minds is still a band.  How original of a line up, again I don't know (seems like a lot of bands have maybe only one original member, yet still use the same name...), but anyway here's the URL if you want to look and research yourself on if they just used the song for the movie:

As an aside, if Coldsweat by The Sugarcubes was done in 1985...I'd also pick that for me personally, although I suspect that would be a bit of a minority pick. ;)
Me <--_Feeling too lazy to look up when The Sugarcubes first hit the USA.

(Don't You) Forget about Me is the best song of those choices for '85

I chose Shout.
I quite liked Take On Me but after a while it started to bore me

I'd have to go with "Shout", "Take on Me" and "Sussudio". They are all good.
