Call me crazy....I still don't think the hair was all that bad in the 80's. The only thing that looks slightly strange is that funky spiked thing girls would do with their bangs...they'd be 6 miles in the air  ::)

Yeah i'd have to agree with MetalManiac, i think a lot of the hairstyles were pretty cool & not that bad at all. I think the big teased hair Robert Smith & Nikki Sixx style & even CC Deville from Poison (which someone mentioned as having bad hair) looks pretty good & i would do it now if i could be bothered doing that every morning or when i wanted to go out. Someone even mentioned Slash. Noway he had bad 80s hair it was just naturally curly & still is, same goes for Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, that makeup was hideous though. I'd have to agree with the Jason Donovan one though, but then again he's always been a dork & probably still is. 
BTW 80smuzikhead i didn't realise you were from Australia. I miss Hey Hey It's Saturday. Remember Countdown & Countdown Revolution in the late 80s? Have you seen Dogs In Space? Top 80s movie that's set in 1978 & it just might be right up your alley, which if that's the case i'm sure you've already seen it then. Haven't we all?

You are crazy! So am I because i too did not think 80's hair was all that bad. The 6 mile high bangs went with the 4 mile wide sides sprayed out.  You got to balance the hairstyle.;D

The only style I could not stand was the mullet. Especially on woman. 

BonJovi looked awesome during the 80's I don't think his hair looked frizzy. The pic of Kylie looks fine too.

Great, three certifiable 80's hair fans  :D The big teased hair was cool for those that had the determination to do that every day.  I often wondered if CC Deville's hair was glued to his head-the first time I had my hair bleached it was snow white like his and I tried to spike it like that-never again...I had A LOT of breakage. After that I'd just wash it and go...no blow drying or anything. Slash I always thought had great hair.

Two that stand out as classics, for me anyway, was Terri Nunn from Berlin. Thought the blond with the black tips were awesome. Cyndi Lauper always had a great wacky 'do. Thought she was great!

Also really liked the crimped  look-thought that was very cool.

Wonder if Dee Snyder ushered in the spiral perm? I'd never seen it before him but saw lots of girls getting them in the mid 80's. Dee was cool but I agree, his make up was frightening LOL!

I know hair will never be that outrageous again, but do you think more creative hairstyles will ever come back? Like hair thats big, but not outrageously so? But I guess people have different ideas about what's considered outrageous, and what's not. One example: for anyone who has seen the Garbage Pail Kids movie, the main girl is that movie, I like her hair, I consider her hair big, but not outrageously big.

I seen a few  pics of actors in US magazine that wore their hair crimped but most stylists said crimped was tacky. I don't get it... It is fun! No, I would not do it all the time but for a change, why not?

My roommate HATES crimped hair. Last time I was watching Tuff Turf I was going on and on about Kim Richard's waist length crimps. "She looks trashy. That's horrible" he said.  That's your opinion...I thought she looked awesome. I tend not to listen to stylists since the one who was originally bleaching mine told me it made me look like  a porn star    >:(  Gee Thanks.  Used to DROOL when I'd see Tawny Kitean with that reddish burnt orange whatever it was. That was HOT. Stylist said "That looks like she let a bunch of beer guzzling football fans pi$$ on her head...I'd never do that to someone."  Not everyone likes conservative looks...some appreciate differences. I hate people like that.

Dude...I wish I still had pictures of this but in the early-mid 80's, my cousin had pictures of models or something, dunno where she got them. These chicks had their hair done so outrageously...it was way cool. I remember one in particular had her entire head braided and moulded to look like a very large hat. There were 7 or 8 girls in the pictures each with very architectural-like 'dos. It was awesome. The one with the hat tho still sticks out in my mind. If you've ever seen British milliner Philip Treacy, it looks something like what he would design.

I think times are far too conservative now a days for that to return. We're getting better but still not like we were in the 80's.

I don't understand how the mid-century mark came up so fast...something is not right here. Surely, it was only 10 years ago we were all late teens and 30 seemed ancient??? I think now I'm starting to see where the concept of leap years came from??? Or did the earth's rotation speed up? I want an inquiry into this....

:o What was I thinking?..Thats what I said the other day when my daughter found an old pic of my in 84-85?? Anyway..remember before crimping irons came out..( or maybe they were, we just couldnt afford one! ) we'd wash our hair and braid tiny little braids all over and sleep on it and the next day..HOT MAMA!!  NOT!...She took the pic to her grandmas..Ill post it when she comes home..
