The 1980s gave us so many changes in technology which really changed our lives such as the PC, videorecorder, etc. MTV was born which took the boredom out of television and kept many young people safely at home and not running the streets. USA Today took the boredom out of reading newspapers with their colorful style. It is now the number one newspaper in the USA. You can see what the first edition looked like and see the news headlines for this historical day.

I remember when USA Today debuted. It was trashed by critics as being a "fast food" newspaper tabloid.

I have the first edition of the USA Today newspaper that was printed Sept. 15, 1982. It's in a special silver envelope

USA today is the fast food of the newpaper industry. High on empty calories.
