Hopefully this topic hasn't been covered before, but here goes anyway, what movies from the 80's would you consider to be bad or for that matter overrated?

I would have to say:

5.  Pinnochio and The Emperor of The Night
6.  Heidi's Song
7.  Piranha II: The Spawning
8.  Popeye
9.  The Children of The Corn
10. Red Sonja

Other movies that I would to add are Halloween III: The Season of The Witch, Superman III, Iron Eagle, Grease 2, and Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf.

Overrated:

"A Fish Called Wanda"
Every  slasher flick featuring Jason, Freddy, & Mike Myers (not the comedian)... except "The Funhouse"...which had a 1 time villian
"Kick Boxer"
"Road House"
Every  Meryl Streep movies
"Steel Magnolias"
"Girls Just Want To Have Fun"

Bad:

"Adventures In Babysitting"
"Popeye"
"Ishtar"
"Howard The Duck"
"Not Quite Human"
"Grease Two"
"Staying Alive"
"Rhinestone"
"Night of the Creeps"
"Reformed Girl School"

Rhinestone is a bad movie.  Conversation that must have taken place prior to movie beign made: 
"Let's make a movie about Sylvester Stallone as a cab drive who can't sing, and Dolly Parton as a country western singer, who tries convince people that she can make him a singer!" "Good idea, it will be a hit!"  ::)  ;D

I like Popeye and Adventures in Babysitting. :D

I have always felt that The Color Purple was overrated.  Many of the "We win in Vietnam" flicks (Rambo and MIA to be precise) spawned sequel after sequel for some reason.

HEY! Staying alive is a great movie with excellent soundtrack...maybe the best soundtrack ever!

I'll probably get it for this but... I think The Breakfast Club is a bit overrated. I do like the film, but when you watch it today it is somewhat dated and just not as good as I originally thought it was.

St. Elmos Fire is overrated as well.

I agree about Girls Just Want To Have Fun, so cheesy! I liked it then though. Most of those teen movies are so cheesy when you watch them years later as an adult. Ones I do think hold the test of time is 16 Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off... those are still good after all of these years IMO.

I'll agree with ya on several of those. I like many of Steven Spielberg's movies but never cared for E.T., too.  And let's also don't forget some of those '80s, John Hughes movies.

1) It's a cheap E.T. rip off.  >:(
2) It's bad commerical for Coca A Cola and MacDonald's.
3) It blows.

Another bad movie is King Kong Lives.

Anyone remember Amazing Grace and Chuck??  Now that was the absolute worst 80s movie IMHO. Bad premise, bad plot, bad acting.

Basically a kid refuses to play in a little league baseball game protesting nuclear weapons.  A NBA basketball player (Amazing Grace) gets wind of this and decides to do the same thing on a professional level.  After a flurry of protests triggered by his actions they convince the president to sign a treaty with the Soviets banning nuclear weapons.  Its hard to believe a distinguished actor like Gregory Peck (who played the president) even came near this.

"Labyrinth" was boring  :P

Borig? It happens to be one of my favorite movies!  ::)

I like Critters, but I do agee Ghoulies is a bad film.

I loved Invasion USA...purely for Chuck Norris.

i like it, but i think sixteen candles is a little overrated. it wansn't one of john hughes' best in my book.

Weekend At Bernie's, but that might have been 1990....
