Subject: Elton John - 1980's

Written By: eightiesfan on 01/06/05 at 12:34 pm

I vote for 'Empty Garden' (his tribute to his slain friend John Lennon) and 'I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That' which came out the summer before my senior year of high school  :)

"I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" (1983) and "Nikita" (1985) will do it for me. Closely followed by a truly beautiful ballad "Blue Eyes" (1982). Elton John made even better 80s Pop than some of the 80s Pop stars together.

I picked I'm Still Standing b/c it was the first Elton John song I ever heard and got me interested in all of his music.

The best from here, IMO, is "Empty Garden" followed by "Blue Eyes" and "I'm Still Standing"

"I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" would be my top pick, but I love all of Eltons music, so it's not easy to pick just one.  :)

So many great Elton John tracks there, Mandamoo but the one that holds most significance for me is other: 'Passengers'.

A very special mention to 'Kiss the bride' as well.  ;)

Sad Songs and Nikita

Did you know Nikita featured Backing Vocals by George Michael and Electric Guitar by Nik Kershaw? George sounds great on the song :)

Agree totally with your choices in the same order.  :)

^Hi, Patty! :)

I voted for the melodic "Sad Songs Say So Much". I also love "I'm Still Standing", but my favorite is definitely "Sacrifice"... :)
