"Living on the Edge of a Broken Heart" and it was so cool to see them get back together recently on Bands Reunited on VH1.  8)

(FYI: Joan Jett and Lita Ford started out their careers in a band together called The Runaways)

I voted for the Wilson sisters from your list, although "Hearts" music was best in the late 70s it carried into the 80's and is classic today. A close 2nd from the list would be Pat Benatar. Stevie Nicks would be right up there too for me :)

I'm voting for Pat b/c Joan only had two songs I cared for, Lita was more sexpot than anything, the Wilsons were better in the 70s, and well, don't get me started on Vixen!

You are right, I would probably say Suzannah Hoffs was my favorite female vocalist of the 80s even to recent times I like to listen to her.

I wish I could have thought of these other artists you guys have mentioned when I started this poll.  I like the Go-Go's as well, although some might consider them more pop than rock.

Melissa Etheridge is another great musician whose career started to take off in the late 80's.

The Go Gos, I like them to,but as someone mentioned,other then a couple of tunes they seem more pop to me, and the words "Female Rockers" doesnt quite fit with them.

I voted for Joan Jett, of course. I may have mentioned this before ( ;)) but I was a big fan of The Runaways and latterly Joan Jett in the 1970s and 1980s. Joan has a fantastic voice for rock'n'roll and is a great live performer. Perhaps that's why she's best known for cover versions (including "I Love Rock'n'Roll") and for her live shows, which she still takes on the road to this day, although she appears to tour only in the USA and Canada  :(.

If Nina hagan would have done 99 luft balloons, they would have exploded! She would have probably done something like 99 methane balloons in the tortured ozone layer...Nina Hagan was kind of a punk protest singer. You mean Nena which was a poppy group, Nena probably shaved :)

Maybe you should check back in the 80's and see what Tina Turner was doing.  Those were
her best years, I don't know a man with a pulse who could look at those famous legs without
begging for mercy, and in performance she could put all the others to bed and still keep going.

Totally agree! I saw Pat in concert a few years ago. She can still ROCK!!!  Hopefully, she will be in the Hall of Fame soon. I can't believe they would pick Joan Jett over Pat Benatar. Doesn't make any sense.  ::)
