Subject: Dungeons and Dragons, The T.V. show

Written By: JamieMcBain on 11/29/04 at 8:21 pm

Does anyone remember Dungeons and Dragons? It was a T.V. show about kids going on a ride at a amusement park, and ending up in a strange world. I also remember probally one of the most annoying charecters on T.V. (next to Scrappy Doo, H.E.R.B.I.E., and Snarf) Uni, The Unicorn.

There was also a Dungeons and Dragons movie (it had nothing to do with the show) that came out in the 90's, it was ok, but not great.

I loved this cartoon!  Hank was my favorite.  I thought his bow was cool.  I didn't really like the Dungeon Master.  I thought it would be so much easier if he would've just told them how to get home.

Reminds of Darth Vader telling Luke Skywalker, that he was his father.... Vengar is related to The Dungeon Master?  :o Didn't see that one coming!!!

That shocked me too when I read it a few years ago.

I remember this cartoon. It was the last one on the day's programming. Then, like sports programming would come on. It was on CBS.

I thought Presto was pretty lame, too.  He never could get his magic to work correctly.  Eric was a huge whiner.  Bobby just kept hitting everything with his club.  Sheila was too busy worrying about Bobby.  I forget the other girl's name.  She was pretty cool, even though her only weapon was a glowing green stick.

The kids did get on my nerves alot (espically Bobby, Eric, and Presto).

Ah, delicious cheese.  I played it, so I watched it.  Still got a kick out of it when I stumbled over this thread.

Mill Creek Entertainment re-packaged the D&D set, and the picture they used for the cover was way better than the the other one I posted above

but Mill Creek's packaging itself was complete garbage.  Like all Mill Creek TV sets, they put their discs on paper sleeves in a plastic tray.  Not sure why they do this, but you should see what they did with 'Hunter', 'Renegade' and 'The Commish' complete series sets.

That's right.  No animated handbook or cool role playing board game that comes with it.  And if you notice, their set is 3 discs as opposed to the other one which is 5

I have the Mill Creek set.  Not interested in all the extras in the other set.  Some say too many extras (interviews, making-of, &etc) for just a mediocre cartoon...

If you've already got the set, yeah, that makes sense.  For me, it's the extras that count, especially when the content itself was mediocre.  Nobody buys the long-tail retro stuff for the plot, they buying it for the memories.

I didn't quite care for the extras either.  If the Mill Creek set had of been out when I bought my copy, I would have still bought the one with all the extras, only because Mill Creek's paper sleeve packaging is quite ridiculous.

I got Mill Creek's complete sets of 'Booker', 'The Commish', 'Hunter', 'The Greatest American Hero' and Season 1 of 'Wiseguy', and they are all the paper sleeve packaging.

The Hunter one is ridiculous as all of the paper sleves do not even fit in the tray, so when I open the case, the top 3 or 4 of them always fall out.
