Speaking of G.L.O.W wasn't there a womans organization on late saturday nights called POWW and they used the same wrestlers from G.L.O.W but when they were on POWW they all had different names? They even had the same ring announcer dude as G.L.O.W

Subject: Re: Fave 80's Pro-Wrestler

Yeah because G.L.O.W would be on early saturday mornings and I think they had some Russian Girl named Natasha. Then on saturday night she would be on Poww and would have a different name! I think Terri Power was the "main" girl  on Poww!

Written By: Bobby on 11/28/04 at 12:19 pm

I voted 'Machoman' Randy Savage from the list (why is Razor Ramon there? He debuted in the WWF in 1992!). He really gave it his all in the WWF (Wrestlemania 3 match against Ricky Steamboat anyone? Or the impressive match he gave Hogan at Wrestlemania 5? Going on after the 80s, the classic bout with The Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 7 or the impressive match with Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 8? There are so many!)

Of course, there are other greats. I'll give a top five . . .

1. 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper
2. Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
3. Mr Perfect
4. 'Ravashing' Rick Rude
5. 'Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase

Let's hear a cheer for the hilarious jobbers of WCW at the late 80s/early 90s (Rip Rogers, The Gambler, Itallian Stallion, Buddy Lee Parker, Tex Slazenger/Shangai Pierce . . .)

I have no idea what this guy was like prior to Wrestlemania 1 (the only P-P-V I saw him in prior to his return in the summer of 1989 (sounds like a Bryan Adams song lol)). He managed Hulk and Mr T at that event and unfortunately have not seen the now legendary cage match between Snuka and Muroco when Snuka splashed Muroco off the top. Let's go through what Snuka did P-P-V wise on his return in 1989:

- Returned at Wrestlemania 5
- Lost to 'Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase at Summerslam 1989
- Lost to Mr Perfect at Survivor Series 1989 (granted he was the last man left on 'Roddy's Rowdies' team).
- Did quite well at Royal Rumble 1990, impressively eliminating Akeem and helping to eliminate Earthquake

However, it goes pear-shaped from here . . .

- Lost to 'Ravashing' Rick Rude at Wrestlemania 6
- Didn't get to enter Summerslam 1990
- Bowed out quite early in his match at Survivor Series 1990

And now we get to the point where Snuka becomes a glorified jobber . . .

- Barely made an impression at Royal Rumble 1991 (gets eliminated by The Undertaker after about 4 or 5 minutes of aimlessly wandering around)
- Got man-handled by The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 7
- Didn't get a look in at either Summerslam 1991 or Survivor Series of the same year.
- Lasts about the same time at Royal Rumble 1992 where, surprise surprise, Undertaker eliminates him again. Of course, Snuka sees sense and decides to call it a day. Either that or the WWF saw sense and decided not to renew Snuka's contract.

So many wrestlers unlisted my friend, so many,

I wouldn't make my choice,

But I would go for Hulk Hogan, coz he may not have been the best wrestler in the sense of wrestling mat work,

But as a performer he sure as hell would get the crowd pumped up,

He is the Babe Ruth of wrestling, a legend, he revolutionized wrestling, and gave it the push it needed,

Other favourite 80s wrestlers, Ted Dibiase, Andre, Junkyard Dog, Big John Studd, Jake The Snake, Superfly, Don Muraco, Sting, Muta, Fujinami, Rick Rude, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Arn Anderson, and lots of others.

Again, was probably a legend before his return at the start of 1993. The WWF magazine gave him a good promo showing how professional he is and I thought 'well . . . He looks quite serious' and, despite a dodgy two minutes with Ric Flair at the start, he lasted a heck of a long time in the Royal Rumble contest. Then I watched him face Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania 9 - Oh how I laughed! He never recovered from that match really despite winning the title a couple of years later in WWF's darker days (and losing it in the quickest time ever!  ;D).

That was one stupid gimmick. How they allowed Rotundo to be in that gimmick for four long years beats me. I reckon the WWF borrowed that gimmick from when he was in WCW as Michael Wallstreet (obviously the film Wall Street was an influence to the booker at the time). It seems almost absurd to believe that 20 years ago, Mike Rotundo was as baby-faced as they come teaming up with Barry Windham in the same company on the first Wrestlemania!

Hmm! Yes Savage's brother got the rough end of the stick when it comes to gimmicks but at least Lanny Poffo did something with it (annoy the fans with his poetry and using his metal scroll ( ;D) as a weapon). He was also quite an entertainer in the ring (his Royal Rumble 1990 match with Brutus 'Barber' Beefcake was no classic but it had it's moments). All I.R.S did was use the same waffle about the USA dodging their taxes and occassionally hit someone with his briefcase! He had one decent match IMO and that was at Royal Rumble 1994 against Razor Ramon - everything else he did was a washout. As usual, I don't think you can fully blame Mike Rotundo  . . .

Hmm! Is this thread going to continue to be a 'post a photograph and say something trite about it' thread?

The Rockers were a great tag team but were heavily underutilised because, unfortunately, they were around when better tag teams wore the gold. I view them as the 'Wham' of their day. Shawn Michaels being George Michael (and continuing successfully as a solo wrestler) while Marty Jannetty gets blurred in the annals of WWF history.

When he would team up with King Kong Bundy against Hogan and Andre or Hillbilly Jim it was wild. Man I miss the old wrestling. slightly off subject here, this is now wrestling but has anybody seen the Machine dudes in Japan, they are so huge.

You have Super Strong Machine, New Super Machine and Ultra Super Machine i think, i just saw them on TV and tried to find a pic but couldn't. One of them is huge, people say Big Show is the biggest wrestler, well he is the heavyest, but one of these guys is, i think 7'6 or 7'7 they said. Another is 7'2 and then the smallest one is about 6'11. Needless to say these guys are awesome.

Yeah because G.L.O.W would be on early Saturday mornings and I think they had some Russian Girl named Natasha. Then on Saturday night she would be on Poww and would have a different name! I think Terri Power was the "main" girl

Probably.. wiindham was a good worker, he just never really got over. When he and austin were in the WWF austin was on a totally different level.

That was the thing with WCW in general. The wrestlers worked really well (I considered Windham to be in the same league as Arn Anderson, Steve Austin and Brian Pillman) but the promoters never seemed to know what to do with them personality-wise.

Widowmaker almost entered 1989's Survivor Series (I believe his picture was on the back of the video cassette). I do wonder how well Windham would have done if he got the chance to take part.

Great wrestler

Ricky Steamboat was an incredible wrestler. I recently bought 'The Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80s' DVD which features the Chi-Town Rumble match he had with Ric Flair . . . Almost worth the DVD price on it's own. An incredible match!

I really wouldn't put Scott Hall as an 80's wrestler even though he was in a different organization in the early 80's, He started out as "Big" Scott Hall 30 years ago

Razor Ramon in the 90's:

Yes they did if you've watched The Legion Of Doom in 2000, this version was ok but nothing great, they worn black and white gear instead of their red and black usual gear, they feuded with The DOA which were tough guys who rode motorcycles. This version lasted about a year till The Legion Of Doom faded out cause Hawk had drug and alcohol problems so they had to find a way to fade them out, they came back to the WWE in 2003 but unfortunately Hawk died of drug and alcohol abuse which left Animal a couple of years later teamed with John Heidenreich to form a different version of LOD and won the tag titles from MNM in 2005, after that Legion Of Doom faded out for good.

Of course it's really really hard to narrow down to one because our whole family loved wrestling and that was our first trip out to LA from NY (Wrestlemania II) and I loved Greg Valentine, The British Bulldogs, Macho Man, and Jake the Snake too.

And then of course 1990 Survivor Series came up, and with it came The Undertaker. My all time favorite!

I used to live for this face every big match :
