Spiked hairdoos? You mean like Billy Idol's haircut? I think Billy's doo is such a classic. It's one of the only 80's doos that doesn't look bad, or at least out of the ones that I know of.
I remember Top gun actually having some good 80's doos. If I'll try to bring back any 80's doos it'll either be Billy's or someone from Top Gun, like Tom Cruise maybe.

Who were those guys?" haha one of my favorites and best video.

yeah the song was from the Nightmare On Elm Street 3 Soundtrack & came off the album Back For The Attack. My Favourite song on that album is the instrumental called Mr. Scary.
I've got the Nightmare On Elm Street boxset wich has bonus promotional footage with Dokken & Freddy in it which you can access through an interactive trivia game you can access on your PC.

Scariest thing about the 80's? That they ended?!??!!! :D
Hey Cafe...on that bonus disc in the Nightmare boxed set...have you done the whole game? Have never been able to get through the door at the end of a hallway with the reinforced glass. Guess you're supposed to click in the triangles? Never found a pattern to break it or open the door.
I forgot about the Mr. Scary track...all my Dokken is on vinyl and my turntable is at my dad's house.
Went to an amusement park Saturday and saw a dude with a Billy Idol do only he had his dyed turquoise at the bottom and the tips were pink. Looked cool. I liked Billy's spiked do...never had the b@lls to do a mohawk myself.

Jaws was '75. My mom took me to see that, was the first time I'd ever been to a drive in.

Written By: Cafe80s on 07/20/05 at 2:52 pm
That's pretty cool, i had a mohawk for a short time that was about 12 inches tall. Too much maintance & it took a whole can of hair spray to get it to stand. The worst part of all is it took me almost 2 years to grow my hair back to a satisfactory length after shaving the mo-hawk off. Don't mind the old punk rock stuff to be honest. The Exploited did a great album called Beat The Bastards that was pure thrash, i'd decribe it metal with mohawks. Check It out if you like thrash like Slayer & early Megadeth with gritty Lemmy/Motorhead style vocals. I hate all the new pop-punk sh!t around at the moment, nothin remotly punk about it. I'll always be a metalhead though.
Anyhow i'm getting off the topic here, yeah i agree with ya, the scariest thing is that the 80s ended & that i'm stuck in this era.

Oh yeah, i think i did finish the game in the Nightmare On Elm Street boxset if i remember correctly. That was a while ago now though because i bought that DVD boxset when it first came out so can't remember well enough to explain how i did it & i only played the interactive game once till i finnished it & haven't gone back to it since. It's the U.S version DVD boxset though so it'd be the same as the one you have. I have a multi region hack software for my PC DVD player so it's all good.

Actually i'll second the George Micheal thing. The late comedian Bill Hicks did a hillarious rant about George Micheal & how he was hockin Diet Coke. Some of the comnts from that rant are: "Gotta have faith ah faith ah faith *mouths gunshot sound*. No George you gotta have talent dude, new f***in rule & you can shave that 2 day worth of beard off buddy coz you're foolin noone you big girl."
Also another good qote is: "These are our music representatives, these are our rockstars. What kind of f***in Reagan wetdream is this world man? Rockstars hockin Diet Cokes. What real rockstar would do something like that? It's Kieth Moon for Snickers.... sometimes i'm doin a drum solo & i haven't eaten for like 3 f***in weeks, i eat a Snickers. That's a rockstar."

Terrorist bombings and hijackings...The Achille Lauro incident stands out in my mind
Libya trying to get us out of 'their' territory by attacking our aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Sidra...of course we RETALIATED bigtime, which caused more of a mess...

Actually here in Australia we had a pretty scary AIDS TV comercial that used to scare the sh!t out of my little brother. The scenario was all these people lined up & standing in a row in a bowling alley like pins & the Grim Reaper bowling & picking them off slowly.

Can't remember the AIDS movie but i remember Jumpin Jack Flash & those Reeboks though. I've always loved my Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars personally & i still wear them to this very day. I've had them in just about every color you can think of but pink & i never buy any other shoe except Dr. Martens. It's cool because those Converse are timeless & never go out of style, hell they're more popular now than ever before even after 80 years or so. They were featured in many an 80s flick aswell, one that comes to mind immediatly is the BMX movie called Rad. I still wear my tight stovepipe stretch jeans aswell, they've just come back into fashion here in Australia & you can easily buy them now. Before that it was near impossible to get a pair since 1990. Levis & Lee Jeans are both making a pair of the old biker/heavy metal/rocker style tight stovepipe stretch jeans. I went & grabbed a black pair as soon as they came out. I noticed they seem to be popular among the Emo kids now aswell as old farts like myself.

Cool, i have the standard black canvas ones at the moment & a pair of plaid traditional Scottish tartan pair that are made of this really fuzzy fabric.
Yep that's right Crocodile Dundee came out in the mid or late 80s. On behalf of all Australians though i'd like to add that noone down here actually talks or acts like that guy or Steve Erwin The Crocodile Hunter unless they live in The Northern Territorry up in Darwin LOL.
Another great Australian movie that came out in the 80s is BMX Bandits with a very very young Nicole Kidman in it. Don't know if it's been released in the U.S. but you can get it on ebay on DVD for about $12 Australian dollars which is not much at all in U.S. dollars. Anyway i'm getting off the topic now.

How about Richard Remirez The Night Stalker or The Night Prowler as he wanted the media to call him after an AC/DC song he loved.

Yeah he was pretty odd looking & very imp like in all the crime photos i've seen of him. Hmmm that rapist guy sounds like he was a little too close for comfort. We had an escaped crim in suburb (i mean very local) in the 80s that everyone called Mad Max. I had trouble sleeping around that time. I think i might have mentioned it in a previous post on this thread.

Nah man. What are you talkin about a lot of the the hair dos were were sweet. I'd go a Robert Smith Cure style do if i could be bothered spending all that time teasing my hair up. I had a mohawk for a while though & they're still more popular now than ever. What's with the lame hair styles now or no styles as i like to call 'em. Guys with short blonde tipped hair & then there's those fake half a*sed mohawks where they have short hair all over & stick it up in the middle like a mohawk & then some dye the strip sticking up in the middle blonde *puke*. It's the designer boutique yuppie look, so clean cut & "proper" it makes me sick. Even their own mothers won't be able to tell them apart from a K-Mart department store maniquine LOL. I totally agree on the spandex though that should never be alowed to see the light of day again.

Oh yeah, crime is everywhere. It's universal. Although we never had anywere quite as bad as the bad parts of L.A. etc. but it was bad in some places & probably worse now then ever especially with the gangsta subculture being glorified the way it is. Crime & drug dealing are now in vogue LOL, how revolutionary ::). The thing that makes me laugh my as* off though is the middle class Australian white kids & black kids acting, walking, & talkin like & basically emulating the U.S. gangstas. I'm like oh please how lame, this ain't the United States Of Australia LOL. Such limited imaginations LOL.

Yeah anyhow, people get murdered here all the time. It's on the local news all the time. Hell have you seen the movie Chopper. Then there's the mobster type king pins in the ethnic parts of Melbourne who are always knockin each other off aswell. It's everywhere in every country you go to. In Frankston (a train ride away from me) in the 80s there was a serial killer named Paul Denyer. I think he's still serving time now. Also in 1991 near were my girlfriend lives there was an Asian school girl called Carmen Chan who was abducted. Some years down the track they found her remains. It was a huge thing & i remember it was on the news for years & you'd hear stuff like police are closer to solving the case of missing school girl Carmen Chan etc. I think that one is still unsolved though & the killer is probably still at large, unless they're serving time for another crime they commited. There's plenty more, but it would take me forever to list it all.

No way. Big hair is sweet, just depends what kind of big hair & how it's worn. Some of the hair metal bands had pretty apaling big hair. Short fringe & teased at the top & the bottom half was long & hanging down, yikes. It looked hot on girls aswell just not that hair metal style i just mentioned.

What gives me the creeps is boring & ordinary hairstyles usualy found on those with no sense of fun, style, individuality or identity & clone fashion victims that follow the boring changing trends & do what's expected of them in the here & now. It's sad how if a standard is set by a majority & something is deemed as daggy after a long period of time, everyone chooses to follow like sheep & agree with that standard or stereo type. It's called conditioning which is easy avoid, just don't watch too much crass TV & let yourself get exposed to too much of the media among other things unless you're strong willed & you might actually be able to form your own ideas & opinions rarther than having the same one as about a hundred million other people which is based on what everyone else thinks. I never hear anything original it's usually yeah the 80s had the daggiest hair & what was with those clothes. Helloooo, a lot of you probably thought it was cool &/or trendy at one stage, what changed your mind, hmmmmm i wonder.

Defender of the 80s LOL
I just had a conversation with my Canadian friend. Her grandchildren have started with their hair. She said her grandson put some type of red streak in it (he's 13 I think) and his mother went absolutely nuts. "He had such nice hair and had to go ruin it." Ruin what? It'll grow out. Or use Prell-that would strip the chromoe off a bumper. It took Manic Panic out of my hair in 2 days.
Then she was upset because her granddaughter dyed her hair jet black. "She looks just awful. It's too dark for her complexion." I smiled and said "You've got a little goth on your hands. Cool!" She was not amused.
She was all upset over it. I told her to take breath and relax. They're entering their teens and now is the time they're going to start pushing buttons and testing limits. If colouring their hair is thebiggest thing they do throughout their teens, consider yourselves very very lucky! It's just hair-it grows back!
DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF! ;)

It's pretty sad though how you've got all these baby goths that do it just to look like their favourite MTV icons or to get attention from their peers & have no idea what gothic really is or the origins. If you ask them who Christian Death or 45 Grave are they have no idea & those 2 bands alone practically pioneered the scene. All they know is Marilyn Manson & HIM which are cheap imitations & are by no means goth but rather a corperate paletable MTV wank for the "supposedly" rebelious kids. A perfect example, i was talking to a girl about half my age in a Misfits shirt & i asked her "so your into punk ?" she said "yep" so i asked "do you like Fear, D.I., Exploited, Crass, Subhumans or an old Aussie underground Melbourne band called Depression?" She just looked at me blankly & said i've never heard of any of those bands. I just rolled my eyes & said "i thought you said you were into punk?" Anyhow the gothic scene was born in the early 80s which branched off punk & bands like Christian Death & 45 Grave were commonly called death rock at the time. I think most of the people in the early beginnings just wanted to look like The Dambed or something. It's the sadest thing ever how it's all been turned into meaningless fashionable sh!t now rather than a movement. Not that the goth scene was really a movement like punk though but rather a spin off. Seems to me though everything now is just a clean cut half as*ed version of what it used to be. You can even buy the bondage pants & carefully packaged & marketed Joey Ramone tight black stretch jeans & all that sort of stuff at Hot Topic store for the corperate baby wannabe mall punks. A real punk would just buy a sh!tty pair of jeans from some thrift store & do it all them selves like badge & stud their jacket. Not buy some pre packaged brand new pair. As far as i'm concerened there's nothing scary about the 80s, it's this era that scares the hell out of me.

In particular, I was really scared of these two entertainers, one of their names start with a " P " the other entertainer name starts with a " M ". I was scared of them because they dress strange to me. I was only a young child at the time.
