Does anyone, espically women, remember the posters they used to sell in all the major stores, like Walgreens, etc. There was a main themed one that I used to collect and still have some of them. They were the womens faces or partial faces. They were usually very bright colors and only showed an eye and the lips or two eyes and lips and sometimes had a word like "solitude" or "true love" or one had this punk rocker looking girl with her headphones hooked up to a street sign saying "llive wire". They were very art decois and so cool. If anyone remembers them or knows where I can buy them would you please let me know. thanks Much :)

It could be the "Nagel" posters you are talking about. If so. go to e-bay. They have had a bunch of them in the past. Some of them are collecters items.

  I don't think it's Nagel you're thinking of, but possibly Dennis Mukai.  He, like Nagel, gained recognition from his work with Playboy magazine.  However, I'm not aware of Mukai prints being sold off-the-rack at the corner drug store.

Glad I could help (at least sort of).  I actually thought of those posters the minute I read your post..but couldn't be sure.  I actually had the one from that auction, so I knew it's name, so I looked it up with that title.  Glad it was the ones you were thinking of!  Good luck finding more of them..they really were, IMO, gorgeous pictures.  :)

I know it's been a long time since you have posted regarding these posters. Can you tell me the information about any names or companies names from them. I had the growing up and just cannot find anything on them. I loved them and would like to have them again. Hope this still get sto you.

One of the artists you'll want to investigate is Syd Brak.  (I had no idea he also did movie posters too...)

The company was Athena, and this article lists - by name - several of their more popular posters and the respective artists.
