Subject: Favorite 1980's Game Shows

I thought about doing this as a poll then realized there's probably too many to narrow it down. These are some of my faves, some of which were carryovers from the 70's:
$25,000/$100,000 Pyramid (bring this one back, Game Show Network)
Press Your Luck
Sale of the Century
Card Sharks
Remote Control
Family Feud
Scrabble
Love Connection

I liked Family Feud and Card Sharks and $25,000 Pyramid a lot, as well as many of the 70s game shows (especially Match Game. 8)

I loved watching game shows as a child in the 1980s! I remember that there were lots of them on TV in the morning and in the evening. The only morning game show that's survived to this day is "The Price Is Right", which I've watched since age 7.
Anyway, here's my list (in no particular order):
$100,000 Pyramid (one of my favorite nighttime shows, which I watched regularly from 1986-88)
High Rollers
Hollywood Squares (with John Davidson)
Million Dollar Chance of a Lifetime (1987 nighttime show hosted by Jim Lang; I often referred to it as "the alphabet game")
Win, Lose, or Draw
Classic Concentration
Sale Of The Century
Scrabble
Card Sharks
Double Dare
Fun House
I also like "Family Feud" although I was too young to remember watching Richard Dawson's version (although I've watched it on GSN in recent years). When Ray Combs began his version in 1988, I was in 3rd grade; my class did our own "Family Feud" skit (from a script); I imitated the sound effects.
Also, I was a frequent "Jeopardy" watcher, 1988-89.
...and, of course, "The Price Is Right".
Game Show Network used to pick up some of these shows, but they've dumped the good ones and replaced them with newer reality-based shows.

There's only two game shows I liked, "Jeopardy" and "Family Feud" with Richard Dawson, has to be Richard Dawson.
I'm just not a game show kinda guy.

Have you guys ever seen Starcade? It was an arcade gameshow. They were airing old episodes on G4 until recently.

No, it was out back in the day and filmed in San Francisco. It's too bad G4 pulled it. It is very entertaining.

I liked Family Feud, especially when Richard Dawson hosted. The questions sounded easier than they really were, because some bad answers made the survey. :-\\

I used to have this book called "Blips" which was a joke book about video games. In one section about "failed video game attempts", they did a spoof on Family Feud. The idea behind the game was to blast rockets and missiles at Richard Dawson before he can kiss members of your family ;D IF that was an actual video game, I'd definately play it ;D

GSN revived the "Press Your Luck" show a few years ago with "Whammy!", whose board is shaped differently than the original PYL board. Instead of the prize windows being set up around the perimeter of the board, the "Whammy!" board has the prize windows pretty much spread out all over the place.

Bowling for Dollars is more of a local game-even though many areas had it. If you ever hear J. Giles "No Anchovies, Please", they mention "Bowling for Dollars" in it.

Could someone please tell me what the game show was, i think in the 80's where two contestants played and a puzzle was slowly revealed and it was a picture puzzle, like it had an eye then a heart and a U = I Love You. That is just a simple example of what they had, but it was a bit more complicated then that, same premise. I had thought that Bert Convy hosted it, but I dont see it on his list of game shows. Please email me if you can, for I probably wont check this.

Looks like a lotta fun. It would probably take me back to my early days to see it again...lol.
I was just thinking about this show not too long ago, so I decided to do some google-searching....and I found out that it was on only from early 1986 until September 1987.
Also I watched a Youtube clip that featured one of the winning couples.
At the time, it was one of the earliest game shows to offer a $1,000,000 grand prize.

What was the game show on "OLD" Nickelodean that had kids running through all sorts of endurance challenges and slime would usually come down in at least one of them???? I loved that game show, I remember it was shown after school at maybe 4:30 - 5:30 range Midwest time.
Was it Card Sharks, or Press your luck that had the Whammies??? I remember watching something for the whammies, everytime I was home sick from school.
Classics - The Old Wheel of Fortune (when they had the various rooms with assortments of prizes labeled by pricetags that they got to choose from - that was my favorite part); The Old Price is Right (can't stand the new version), and then of course Family Feud (great trivia).

Press Your Luck had the whammies. The idea was to try to win as much cash/prizes as you could, but try to avoid the "whammies"; hitting a whammy would take away all your winnings.
