I have three influential years (1984, 1986 and 1989). Out of all those . . . Hmm! O.k, I'll go for 1984. :)

I like 1984. But the thing about those mid 80s years, well early and mid 80s years, is that they could be really really cool, but also really cheesy and lame at the same time. You'll hear a really cool song like nothing you've heard before from that time, but then you'll see them wearing those atrocious leather jackets and headbands, complete with gaudy a 1984 hairstyle.

Summer of 1987 man, I was 17 and one of my roommates and I took off on a two week trek from mid June to July 4th and followed Motley Crue thru 9 cities in 6 states what a freakin’ blast that was. That was my early Sr. graduation trip/gift from my folks. They funded most of it and we had been saving up for the better part of a year and we borrowed my roomies sisters car. We started in our hometown, TX then on to Albuquerque, NM, El Paso, TX, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Houston, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Shreveport, LA, Biloxi, MS, Little Rock, AR and finally back to home. Man… what a GREAT memory that made!

Like others, 1984...
Thinking back on all of it, seems '84 (perhaps also '85) really felt like "the 80's". Earlier seemed like 70's-lite; later, like a self-parody...
