Subject: Pointer Sisters-Poll
Written By: CatwomanofV on 07/08/04 at 12:02 pm
I am tossed between Fire, Slow Hand, and I'm So Excited. I also like Automatic.
Of course whenever I hear Fire, I can't help but think about Robin Williams doing "Elmer Fudd does Bruce Springsteen". ;D

'Jump' by Pointer Sisters is a wonderful 80s song - my fave. Second goes to 'Automatic'.
Is 'He's so shy' a 70s song? I love that one too. :)

"Slow Hand" is prolly my favorite
"Automatic" is great, especially Ruth Pointer's deeep, throaty intoning of "Au-to-ma-tic"!

Here's a little trivia. There were two versions of "I'm So Excited". The first one came out in 1982 (peaked at US #30) and a different version re-charted in 1984 (peaked at US #9). One of them is about a minute longer, but I don't remember which one

I voted "Automatic". I remember learning the lyrics to that on my first walkman. Great song!

The '82 version is the longer, clocking in at nearly five minutes...while the '84 version (which was remixed into the bargain) is just a shade under four...
The original version was also available on their 1982 LP (called 'So Excited'), which featured a cover of Prince's 'I Feel For You'...almost two whole years before Chaka Khan got her mitts on it...

Was tough to choose only one. Tough. They're all such good songs...
Went with Slow Hand only because it reminds me of riding the bus to school in the 7th grade...
go ;)...
