That's wild, woops. :o
I could give 100 great songs for a decade, but next to nothing for videos of the '80s or any decade for that matter. I just don't remember them as well as their songs.
How long did you work on that list? 120!
Do you remember any videos from the '90s. I think they were getting better in the '90s, so I'd love to see a list of '90s top videos.
As for me and '80s video -- and what I do remember of '80s videos -- is one that I always thought was the best and that was Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out". I always liked that song and its video. :)
:) ;D

It took about 40 minutes to set it up. And a few minutes to check to see it matches the exact ranking.
Originally was something I made up in 2000 when I was given a journal for my birthday.
And I collect music video compilation DVDs and tape them from tv.
When it comes to songs, it's difficult since there's too many.

I guess I'm not surprised that "Thriller" was #1. That's every list-maker's favourite 80's video. I'd have gone with "Take On Me" if I was you. :)
Something else I was surprised about: "Vienna" by Ultravox made the list (rather low, I might add!) but "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" - even though it's a standard song but it's the best video ever made - was conspicuously absent! That would be my #1 pick! It's a much more compelling video than "Thriller" or "Take On Me." ;)

115. Night Ranger "Sister Christian" Great video...should have been higher.
81. Nena "99 Luft Balloons" I like the German version better than the American. The american lyrics are kinda dumb.
50. Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" My first Rick Savage sighting. This should have been higher, too.
35. Herbie Hancock "Rock It" Kinda creeped me out.
34. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince "Parents Just Don't Understand" fun video
25. Twisted Sister "We're Not Gonna Take It" Love any video where they beat up Neidermeyer.
18. Metallica "One" This video was depressing. Great song, though.
14. Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" Overrated. I never saw what was so great about this song or band

You put Eurythmics on! Yay! :) I think your list was very good. I agree on quite a few. I don't agree on some places what you've given them, but I agree on the fact that some are great videos!

5. Stand & Deilver - Adam & The Ants (You're not alone Rio!)
4. Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
3. Heart - Pet Shop Boys
2. Thriller - Michael Jackson
1. Love Is A Stranger - Eurythmics

Good list, wish I could buy all those videos on a dvd compilation! Nice to see some Culture Club in there too, would've added "The War Song" myself, along with "Original sin" and "The One Thing" by INXS and "It's A Hard Life", "I Want To Break Free" and "The Invisible Man" by Queen.

Nice Job :) I also remember Chicago-"Stay the night". Maybe they weren't as popular in the 80's?
Stray Cats-"Stray Cat Boogie" (Title may not be right). I would love to have a collection of the top 40 from each year.
I remember a vid in early 1984 where these two guys and a child, dressed kind of punky, went around hitting stuff with sledge hammers. The child would point at stuff and they'd hit it. I don't think it had much for lyrics, but remember "hey" being used a lot. The vid was done in a stop-action style.
Anybody remember this?

It and the song bring me half to tears, and I'm a dude! :( What a genius video, the vid never comes off as cheesy except for the outdated hair.
I wonder if the cartoon parts led the way for Japanimation in the States? Also, it has a f*ck the Police message too sorta. ;D

Thank you Woops, thank you, thank you. I didn't think the Stray cats title was right. That video title has driven me nuts for more than a decade. It won an MTV award, the group did the Peter Gunn theme, and I couldn't remember who they were? Sheeeeeesh, I'm gettin' old. ::) ::)
