Out of the original five, I would pick Martha - in the late 80's I thought Downtown Julie Brown was cool.

Down Town Julie Brown
And my "other" wasn't around in the '80's, but I like to mention him: Matt Pinfield.

Martha Quinn :-* and the late, great JJ Jackson 8) .
Have any of you seen "Downtown Julie Brown" lately? To put it mildly, time has definitely not been good to her at all. I wonder if she had a botched plastic surgery job? ???

All of the original VJs were awesome! I voted for Martha Quinn. She was the girl next door!  :)

Of the five original VJs, I knew J.J. Jackson the best as we had worked on some projects in the past and were starting a new one at the time of his death.
I saw Martha Quinn for the first time in several years at J.J.'s memorial service, and she is still the cute little girl next door after all these years, and a total sweetheart.
Mark and Alan are still great guys, and Nina is as scatterbrained as ever. :D

I don't know any from the original period (I didn't watch music videos until 1991, and even then it was more heavily on VH1), but from what I've seen secondhand and/or in vintage clips and current interviews...Alan Hunter seemed like a cool guy. I liked Nina Blackwood too - I saw this infomercial for an '80s music collection that she hosted in the mid '90s. I've become familarized with all of them to an extent. It was sad when JJ Jackson died a couple years ago too.

I never got MTV, so I don't know much about these people (other than Adam Curry), but didn't Martha Quinn appear on an episode of Full House?
I've also seen that 80s collection infomercial with Nina Blackwood

For those of you with Sirius, although if you have it you probably already know, Channel #8 "The Big 80's" Has Martha, Nina, Alan, and Mark as host of various shows.

Although I liked the MTV crew, there was one man who had an Indie show, that I will remember as my fave:
I know him, because he also heads my all-time favorite group:
Fee Waybill.

Hand down, I loved Downtown Julie Brown! (wubba wubba wubba)
She's the first person who introduced me to Michael Jackson's music, and a few years later I became a huge fan of his! So I owe my MJ fanhood to her.
And she was the coolest person and wore the coolest clothes--for the 80s--and i wanted to be just like her when I was little! ;D

I loved Alan Hunter. I wanted to be just like him. (I was 8.) Anyone remember the very first "Amuck in America"??? Alan went to the University of Louisville , no plans, no advance notice. He went there with his cameras and ran around the library. My sister and I saw him on TV and almost went down there.
That first season was so "wild", that many cities didn't want "Amuck" to return.
