I had a Wonder Woman one (but that was in the 70's) by the time the 80's hit I was brown bagging it.
But I remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Barbie lunch boxes being popular.
Here's some that I found on ebay.

By the time the 80's rolled around, I had stopped carrying lunchboxes to school. But my favorite one from the 70's was my H.R. Pufnstuf lunchbox.

I had a yellow plastic Peanuts lunchbox and my sister had a purple She-Ra Princess of Power lunchbox. I almost never used mine, it was like new. I wish I still had it, it might be worth something.
I remember all the cool kids had rusty metal A-team lunchboxes and stuff like that.

In the UK, a "lunchbox" refers to a man's...er..."package." ;D
So, hmmm, I'll have to think on that. ;)

In the U.S. of A., the term "box lunch" also has a different meaning.

Oliver North Action Series
Only joking, of course, but that woulda been cool. By the '80s I was brown bagging it. No need for a lunchbox. My mom used to buy those special sized packets of lunchbags, I think their were 50 in each.

My fave was my Strawberry Shortcake lunch box. I loved that thing so much I would get upset if my grandma took it away to clean it out!ÂÂ

So actually in London England if you say lunchbox you're actually refering to a guy's crotch? ??? ;D

Not necessarily. It depends on the context. I guess a lunchbox has the same meaning there as it does in other places...but if you were looking at a guy and admiring his "package," you could say he's got a nice lunchbox. :) (I hope I got that right.)

This wasn't in the '80's (because I was born in 1985 ;D) but I remember when I was 6 or 7 years old I had a Barbie lunchbox that I thought was pretty cool 8).

Same here, PoPCultureGirl... my lunchboxes were from the 70's as well. Instead, I had 'The $6,000,000 Dollar Man' and 'The Mickey Mouse Club' lunchboxes!... Man, I really loved those lunch carriers so much...and so did my classmates. :)
