"Dive," from Bigger Than America ranks up there with the greats!  I like "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang," but I don't think it's one of their best.  It does mention the late Ronald Reagan, though.

That's probably why I heard the song in the first place. Most of the time someone in radio hears an obscure song in a movie and starts giving it a little airplay. There's always a reason.

Anyways it took me, what, over seven years to find it! :o

Who you gettin,' Bratty? Goggly Googol? Johnny Zhivago? The Heaven 17?
This line is mistakenly attributed to Alex.  Alex is talking to the two girls at the record shop at the same time, but the question is actually posited by "Marty."
Anyway, that's where the band got the name.

BTW, according to IMDB, Trainspotting came out in '96, not '95.  My mistake.

That's a great song.  I love that whole album.  "The Skin I'm In" is another fave from that album.  Compare: Double (doo-blay), "The Captain of Her Heart," only "The Skin I'm In" is a much better song.  I love the classical guitar they mixed in.  The song is not directly in the Bossa Nova ballad camp, ala Gilberto Gil, but it does give a nod to Brazilian pop.
The critics eviscerated "How Men Are."  The problem is, they didn't understand it.  They didn't get it.  They only critics reviewing H17 were rock critics.  If you understand one thing about music reviews, understand this: rock critics know NOTHING about music.
I will admit "Five Minutes To Midnight" was half-baked, but I still enjoy it.

Let Me Go is the only song I know by them, but it's a great song. :)

"Come Live With Me" of course, then "Let Me Go" then "temptation" then "Sunset Now" then "We Live So Fast". saw the vid for "this Is Mine" very cool. :)
