It's gotta be one of the best songs of the early '80s...
Whip It
That song was also used in one of the earliest "music videos" I can recall. It was a segment on the nightly news or something about a new fad: having a dog catch a thrown Frisbee. The segment used slow motion and stop action footage and Devo's Whip It for its music. Whip It (throw). Whip it good (catch). A mini-story with music. It was pretty clever. I wonder if the future MTV people saw it too? ???
;) ;D

GATES OF STEEL
In second place, an early one
SOCIAL FOOLS
If you obey society’s rules
You will be society’s fools
You’ll obey and then disobey
You’ll disobey but then you’ll obey
You thought your mom and dad were fools
You never wanted to listen in school
Now your mind won’t go where you want to take it
You got a ride but you’re not gonna make it
You’ll never catch up!
Dad. pass the ketchup !
Clean that mess up! listen up!
If you obey society’s fools
You’ll be society’s tools
And you’ll obey and then disobey
You’ll disobey but then you’ll obey
You thought your mom and dad were queer
You always wanted egg in your beer
Now your dog won’t go
When you try to make it
He’s got a bone but he’s not gonna shake it
If you take society’s tools
You will make society’s rules
Which you’ll obey and then disobey
You’ll disobey but then you’ll obey
That’s all for now
That’s all we know
This is the end

I was surprised Working in a Coalmine was not on the list. That was their second biggest hit they had. I vote for it! 8)

I don't know much of their stuff so I've gone for the best known one, Jocko Homo. I'm glad you've reminded me they existed - just off to ebay!
Seriously, does anyone know if Devo have been released on CD?
