Rock Lobster
Runners up:
Planet Claire
Quiche Lorraine
Legal Tender
Queen of Las Vegas
52 Girls
Hero Worship
Honorable mention
Fred Schneider: Monster
The Whammy album deserved more recognition! They did a great cover of Yoko Ono's "Don't Worry." The first issue of the album has it, I recommend B-52's fans search it out. Unfortunately, after an injunction, they replaced it with the (dumb) "Moon 83," so that was a blow against the album.
I stopped liking the band's material after Ricky Wilson died, though their skyrocketing success from '86-'90 was remarkable. Usually after an album flops (Whammy), and a key member dies, the band is toast.
"Love Shack" and "Roam" got waaay overplayed. All these years later, and I'm still sick of them!

I choose "other". One of my fav's is "Detour Though Your Mind". Very trippy, spacey tune...
You can hear swirling music & Fred in the background saying "Where am I...where am I going...can I bring luggage?...can I bring my mother with me?" ;D
Hilarious and very silly. :)

I love all of their songs but I chose "Give Me Back My Man" because of the chorus:
"I'll give you fish. I'll give you candy.
I'll give you-hoo everything that I've ever had." :D

What?!?!?! Really?!?!?! I'm shocked!!! You have such good taste in music! All of the bands you listed take themselves so seriously but they suck and that's why they're ridiculous. But can you not even appreciate the tongue-in-cheek attitude?
(I apologize for all of the punctuation!)

My choice..."other:" The Girl From Ipanema (Goes To Greenland). I love that song! ;D
Absolutely Vile
Oh, that's a goodie, a forget about that one!
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Witch-doctors are screaming
Nymphs are dreaming
This girl's lost someone
Who is that someone
She's leaving
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Hot latitudes, cool atitudes
She's leaving
Moon in her mirror
Chasing northern lights
She goes. Ahhh
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Remember wherever you go
There you are
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
Girl from Ipanema goes to Greenland
(Repeat)
But I stil prefer the lyrics for QUICHE LORRAINE
It's a dreary downtown day,
But at the end of my 40 foot leash,
Is my little friend Quiche.
Quiche La Poodle is her name
And having a good time on a crummy day is our game.
Quiche Quiche Lorraine
Quiche Quiche Lorraine
Everyday I take her out. Yea!
She runs around, she shouts out and barks, Yea!
Cause she's a good doggie
She's a sweet, sweet, sweet PUPPY! Arf Arf
And I know she'll stick by me, Yea! Arf Arf
Oh no! Here comes a Great Dane
Drivin' down the lane
Quiche, Quiche, Quiche come back here;
Don't leave me.
I'll go insane.
I'll go insane.
How do you like that?
Has anybody seen a dog dyed dark green.
About two inches tall, with a strawberry blonde fall;
Sunglasses and a bonnet
and designer jeans with appliques on it?
The dog that brought me so much joy
Left me wallowing in pain.
Quiche Lorraine.
I'll show her!
Do you see the key in my hand?
I'm gonna throw it in the lake.
Yea, you've been so rotten to me,
You take the cake.
I'm just gonna lock the door to your kennel,
and just you try and come back to me.
Yea, you'll see.
Quiche Quiche Lorraine You mangey mutt.
Quiche Quiche Lorraine I'm talking about Quiche!
Quiche Quiche Lorraine Quiche Lorraine!

It's a toss up between Roam & Love Shack.
They might be kitschy but the B-52's always put me in good mood.... catchy lyrics. Those girls have good chemistry on Roam.

Pretty much anything off of their '79 self-titled album, but since I can only choose one, I'll vote for "Planet Claire"
For the record, I cannot STAND "Love Shack" :P

Have to go with Rock Lobster. In high school, I was trying to convince this one girl that there was such a song. I wonder if she has heard it by now. ???

For all its' so-called 'legendary' status, I've never really gotten on with 'Rock Lobster', or most of the group's stuff (sorry!)...
But I do take my hat off to 'Roam'...brilliant song...

I read all the previous comments and I'm with the "Lobster" fans. :)
And yes, I too think "Love Shack" and "Roam" were waaaaay overplayed, especially "Love Shack". :(
Does anyone remember when they were on SNL and did "Rock Lobster". One of the few live performances on that show I thought was worth watching.
;) ;D

I picked other. I thought their version of the Flintstones theme was great. For it, they credited themselves as the BC-52's, and even made a cameo appearance as themselves in the Flintstones movie 8)

Am I a bad person for listening to "Mesopotamia" during the early days of March 2003, when we thought we were gonna win the war?
"They laid down the law! In Meso-potamia!"
(Now, I ain't no student of ancient culture. Before I talk, I should read a book. But there's one thing that I do know. There's a lotta ruins in Mesopotamia...)

Probably the best sing-along beach song of theirs that never made the charts.
