SECONDS

Actually, I have to go with two favorites, on from each incarnation of The Human League
Human League I
Dreams of Leaving

Human League II
Seconds

The Fascination! EP was great, though I think it was a mistake to forsake the all-synth formula so quickly.  "Mirror Man" is one of their best.  Hysteria go bad reviews, but yielded great songs such as "Louise" (I'm surprised that riff hasn't been used on a hip-hop track), "The Lebanon," "So Hurt," and "Betrayed."  The James Brown cover ("Rock Me Again and Again...Six Times") was a BIIIIG mistake.  To hear Phil Oakey start in with "Oh, ohhh, Oh-ah oh," you've GOT to be kidding!  Phil Oakey just does NOT have the pipes to do a JB song!
I have to take exception to the Crash album as I believe they sold out to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.  I consider Crash a faux Human League album.

Same here.  I like Human too but I hear it a lot on the lite stations.  The others I never hear except on a special retro 80s show or something.

'Human' is a fine song but I've listened to it far too much. From their late period I also recommend 'Heart like a wheel' (about 1990), 'Tell me when (about 1995) and 'One man in my heart' (roughly the same year).

Being Boiled!

Which, as anyone who's paid attention to my quizzes in the past will know, is a protest song about the maltreatment of silkworms in the production process of silk. Well, boiling them alive, actually.

"Don't You Want Me"

My very favourite Human League moment was during the "Party" episode of the Young Ones, where Rick decided to liven up the party...

"OK, who's into the Human Leeeeeegue....?"

at which point he puts a record of "Don't You Want Me" on....

It only gets through those 4 words before the police storm the house, smash the record player and say

"Right, there's been complaints about the noise"  ;D

Listen to the voice of Buddha, saying stop your sericulture
Little people like your children boiled alive for some god's stocking
Buddha's watching, Buddha's waiting

Just because the kid's an orphan is no excuse for thoughtless slaying
People don't forget this slaughter, just because you call her mother
Doesn't mean that she's your better

Once more with the voice of Buddha, he'll say carry on your slaughter
Who cares for the little children, you can slice with no conviction
Blind revenge on a blameless victim

Listen to the voice of Buddha, he'll say carry on your slaughter
Who cares for the little children, you can slice with no conviction
Blind revenge on a blameless victim

Sericulture: The raising of silkworms for raw silk (G. ser, silkworm + culture)
I always thought it was an anti-military song.  Maybe something to do with the destruction of solders for states' own nefarious purposes, or maybe the slaughter of civilians in war.

Reproduction and Travelogue are great albums.  The CD versions add all the b-sides and rarities, which makes them a must for true Human League fans.
I actually think HEAVEN 17 was better than the subsequent incarnations of Human League, at least the Heaven 17 material from 1981-1985 was.

That was Thompson Twins, a big hit from the "Here's to Future Days" album (1985), another great pop song!

I thought that the Human League's crash album sounded good with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Some of the songs sounded like Janet Jackson's songs from Control, but they actually pulled it off. Jam and Lewis' sound might have been a little too thick for the Human League's lighter pop grooves.

'Keep Feeling Fascination' is in my opinion a masterpiece of pop, and so much more interesting than than the overplayed 'Don't You Want Me'.

In addition to the 12" version of 'Love Action' which REALLY is good, I also liked 'The Sound Of The Crowd'.

League were a great band.
