THANK YOU for allowing three options, and still the choice was hard!
Here are mine:
1. Get the Balance Right
2. Fools
3. Black Day
"Black Day" has a harmonica-and-jaw harp sound, reminscent of an old roots blues song. Very cool.
Most of these non-album tracks did end up on full-lengths. People Are People, Catching Up With Depeche Mode, or one of the cassette/CD versions.
HERE ARE SOME OTHER NON-ALBUM DM TRACKS I LOVE:
Black Celebration (Black Rose Mix) -- A QUESTION OF TIME CD single
Christmas Island, It Doesn't Matter Two, A Question of Lust, Minimal --
A QUESTION OF LUST 12"/CD
Fools (Bigger), Love in Itself--4 (acoustic) -- LOVE IN ITSELF CD single
Oberkorn (It's a Small Town) --THE MEANING OF LOVE 12"/CD
The Great Outdoors, Get The Balance Right (Combination Mix) -- GET THE BALANCE RIGHT CD
Stripped (Highland Mix), Breathing in Fumes -- STRIPPED 12"/CD single
St. Jarna -- Little 15 CD single
Something To Do (Metal Mix) -- SHAKE THE DISEASE 12"/CD single
FPMIP, Strangelove (all remixes) -- STRANGELOVE CD single
Enjoy the Silence (Quad Final Mix) -- special ENJOY THE SILENCE 12"
Personal Jesus (Acoustic Mix & Telephone Stomp Mix) -- PERSONAL JESUS CD Single
Now, This is Fun (extended) -- SEE YOU 12"
Any Second Now (Altered) -- JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH 12"
Photographic (Some Bizzare version) -- SOME BIZZARE compilation
Sometimes I Wish I Was Dead -- PHOTOGRAPHIC promo 7"/SPEAK & SPELL UK CD
Ice Machine -- ? single/SPEAK & SPELL UK CD
Excerpts & Further Excerpts From My Secret Garden/Leave in Silence (Quieter) -- Leave in Silence 12" CD single
Phew!

Ice Machine -- ? single/SPEAK & SPELL UK CD
I think "Ice Machine" is on the B-side of the "New Life" single.

Actually, it was originally the b-side to the "Dreaming of Me" 7." Released 2/81, another early one. A live version of "Ice Machine" was subsequently released w/ other live tracks on the b-side of the "Blasphemous Rumours" max-single.

I picked Ice Machine, Shake the Disease, and To Have and To Hold (Spanish Taster).
"Route 66" 8) ...I've heard that this was a cover. Who did the original?
"Route 66," I think, is considered a standard, so it's been covered by A LOT of people, like Chuck Berry, the Andrews Sisters, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, and of course Depeche Mode, just to name a few. Don't know who did it first though.

From those listed, I picked:
Route 66
Shake the disease
It's called a heart (I once entered a playback competition with this song, and won - much to my own surprise.)
Had it been an option, I'd voted for Sea of sin.

Shake the Disease, Get the Balance Right, and It's Called A Heart
I have the two record "It's Called A Heart" on 12". Found it at a thrift shop for $1 and it was still in it's factory sealing 8)
