I have a soft spot for Downtown Train. I thought this was a 90s song so I am going to second it with another 90s song that I like of his - The Motown Song. :)

I vote Love Touch. That was a hit during a very fun time in my life. I do like most of Rod Stewart's material and I'll give honorary mentions to Young Turks and Passion.

DO YA THINK I'M SEXY
because I just love that synth riff!
DOWNTOWN TRAIN is a great song, but I prefer the original Tom Waits version.
now it's "Do Ya Think I'm Sixty" ;D

The term "Young Turk" refers to an insurgent in a political party, especially a liberal or progressive one. "Young Turks" by this definition suits the theme of Stewart's hit song. Unfortunately, the real "Young Turks" have an ATROCIOUS legacy. The Young Turk Movement started in the late 19th century when Turkey was ruled by an absolutist monarch, and it appeared the glory days of the Ottoman Empire were on the wane. The core of the "Young Turks" were military officers working in secret to overthrow Sultan Abdul-Hamid, which they did in early 1900s.
However, World War I started in 1914, one thing led to another, and the "Young Turks," in an opportunist land grab, perpetuated the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Nevertheless, "Young Turks" retained a positive image the should have forfeited for their mass-killings of Armenians.
Anyway, at least Rod's refrain is "young hearts," not "Young Turks."

I always wondered about that. I always heard the song as "young hearts be free tonight". But every time Ive seen the song title listed somewhere, it was titled "Young Turks".

Uh...I like all of Rod Stewart's stuff, but wasn't "Do ya Think I'm Sexy" from the 70s, like late 1978/early 1979?

Yeah, I was thinking that. It's definitely a '70s song.

I voted Maggie May, but it would have to be The First Cut Is The Deepest. ;)

I would've voted "Infatuation" but there wasn't an "Other" option.

I would've voted "Infatuation" but there wasn't an "Other" option.
I would've gone with "Infatuation" too, the set of choices is very limited. Where are all these great songs?
"Lost In You"
"My Heart Can't Tell You No"
"Crazy About Her"
"Passion"
"Young Hearts"
"Tonight I'm Yours"
"Baby Jane"
"What Am I Gonna Do?"
"Twistin' The Night Away"(1987 version from Innerspace),
And a very glaring omission,
"People Get Ready"(with Jeff Beck)
Anyone want to back me up on this?
Your Pal,
Doc

I liked him as a Rock-n-Roller best,Maggie May would be my choice...
I was never too fond of the type of tunes most of you choose...the poppier sound he started doing from somewhere in the 80s and on through til now never did much for me.....It became too comercial sounding..I liked the more raw sound from the 70s..

I went with Maggie May from this list. My favorite was the cover of Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready with Jeff Beck.

Stewart incorporated some disco to his musical formula for the 1978 album Blondes Have More Fun. Supported by the number one single "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?.
So, yes. :)
