Subject: OMD lyrics
Written By: MaxwellSmart on 04/24/04 at 1:09 am
I am a huge fan of OMD, but their lyrics are hard to understand. I'm looking for a lyrics page that is an authority on OMD lyrics. I've tried a few, but there's much disagreement between them.
Example, Maid of Orleans:
One says:
"She gave so much,
she offered all
her body to the grave."
The other says:
"She cared so much
she offered up
her body to the flames."
That's what happens when listeners build lyrics pages. What do McCluskey and Humphreys say their lyrics are? BTW, both examples above are erroneous.
Another complaint with those general lyrics sites is the rash of pop-ups they bring with them! >:(
I've actually seen the lyrics for most of their songs before, but sometimes I forget! Also, I'm not interested in post-1986 OMD, 'coz most of it blows!

Here is THE definitive Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark website that has just about anything...even lyrics!!
PAT'S WORLD OF OMD - www.omdweb.com
It's probably the best one I've ever seen.

Oops...
I just checked the lyrics to "Maid Of Orleans" on the site I gave you and it quotes one of the lines you say are erroneous ("She cared so much/she offered up/her body to the grave"). How do you know it's erroneous when you don't what the correct lyrics are anyway? Just curious...
Yes, it's a fan site, but it's the best I've seen. The official OMD site doesn't have lyrics on it!! :(

Oh, I guess it's not erroneous after all. I assumed it was "flames," not "grave," because it's "Joan of Arc." Thanks for the link.

You should've posted this on the lyrics board.
