Subject: Note To Chucky G

I was just looking at the music section of your site and I came across the section where you have a list of songs done by women and I noticed that you mentioned Wilson Phillips. But they're not 80s! Their album was released in March of '90 and they didn't have their first hit until June of that year. IMHO, a group that recorded their debut album in '89 and had it released in '90 IS NOT AN 80'S GROUP!

First and foremost, if Wilson Phillips (however terrible) recorded, I repeat, ReCoRdEd, their album prior to the culmination of the 1980s, then they are, as unfortunate as it may be, christened an "80s group" then and there. If Survivor records a song on May 23, 1983, but its release is delayed until the year 2478, they still are and will forever remain a band of the 80s, not simply because they created music during this fine decade, but also because they embody everything that is The Greaties. Let's be careful where we step here, the floor may be made of rice . . .

Cautiously,
Alan Thicke

I would have to agree with Juli. I think that it is when you become popular and thus are associated with that era. The Dead recorded into the 90's but are associated with the 60's as that is when their popularity first arose. But everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect others. That's why we have this board.
