Subject: Male Stripper 1986

Written By: LORRAINE RUMSEY on 4/25/2000 at 9:55 a.m.

Does anyone remember a gay act around 1986, that got to Number 2 in the national charts, it was possibly called Male Stripper? The words were something along the lines of ' I'll strip for you, you strip for me' Not sure if Male Stripper is the name of the act or the song, may have been Striptease?

Hmmm, those lyrics sound more like Adam Ant. "We're just following ancient history, If I strip for you, will you strip for me?" The video had him stripping various items of clothing off, but not enough to get banned from MTV. He did wear a lot of eyeliner and lipstick in his early years, but I'm not aware that he was gay. A lot of the guys I knew were really uncomfortable with musicians that wore makeup, and dismissed them all as "gay", meaning stupid. Probably becase all us girls paid more attention to the videos of these guys than our boyfriends.
