Subject: Am lost.......
When I was in kidnergarden (1989), I used to rent this kid movie all the time about a girl around 9 (had brother, mom, and dad was out of house) who found little furry toy people through her closet/mirror. There was a whole other world through it, including a "book worm" character, other creature people, and an evil witch (real women actress). The witch had to eat fruit from a special tree in her castle to stay young and alive. In the end she dies because the girl hides the key, keeping the witch from opening the glass dome protecting her fruit tree.
Please try to remember -Lindsey

Just like what Charity wrote, the only thing that comes to my mind is "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." This was a book by C.S. Lewis (the first volume of his "Chronicles of Narnia" series) that was made into an animated movie in the 80s. I saw the movie and read the book quite awhile ago but I remember very little of them. Therefore, I don't know if this story matches what you have above (I can't even remember the fate of the witch in "The Lion..."). I do remember, however, that in this story there was a group of children (not just a single little girl) and a big lion who was one of the "good guys" (basically he represents Christ - Lewis was a theologian). So if such things weren't in the movie you saw then it must have been a different movie.

The only thing I can think of is "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe". I remember I loved the book when I was a kid. Does that ring a bell? Charity
