Milli Vanilli or Vanilla Ice
I'm coming up with a list of 90s groups for the new site.. and I'm reminded of some of the stuff that is so border line, Milli Vanilli was '89, Vanilla Ice '90 and yet I want to list neither on either site >grin<

Personally I think you should leave Milli Vanilli in the 80's and put Vanilla Ice in the 90's. If you truly want a fair listing of some of the groups/performers that made news in an era, you gotta take the good with the bad. Let's face it, we may look back and laugh at these musicians now, but AT THE TIME they really were popular. Heck Milli Vanilli even "earned" a grammy--they may have had to return it, but at the time, their music was deemed worthy of the award. Even if you list them on a "laughable list", I do think that, good or bad, they made an impact on the music scene in those days.
