Subject: The return of the 80s
I am writing an article on how 80's fashion has returned! I need any and all opinions on this subject as well as other links to similar sites as this one.

I don't think that 80s fashion has returned.
No button down shirts with SKINNY TIES. No horizonally striped Izod style shirts (extra points for upturned collars). No wearing solid color Izod style shirts with skinny ties.
No unconstructed jackets with narrow lapels.
No flared out mini skirts (I don't know the name for these, but you see them in 80s movies and videos).
Women don't wear pumps with the short socks with the tops turned down.
No big dangly earrings for women.
No polka dots, stripes, checkerboard, or squiggle motifs on clothes.
Where are the Ray-Ban Wayfarers?
In short, no one dresses like Duran Duran in the "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf Videos", or like the Go-Go's, or like anyone in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" or "Valley Girl". That was 80s fashion. When people start dressing like that, then 80s fashion will be back. I can't wait . . . I've got my skinny ties waiting!

I would give ANYTHING if that style mentioned above would return! For this past Halloween, I dressed up as an 80s newwave girl, and of course I wore hot pink socks with black pumps. Maybe in 2003, that might return, but alas, I can only dream. Anyway, when I went to Old Navy this week, I did notice that there are a ton of bright, different colors to choose from. I mean, different shades of hot pinks, greens, oranges, you name it, they've got it. I think that's a good sign. Us 80s fanatics, we need to start these trends (again) and not wait around for the rest of the world! Let's do it!!!!!
Peace, GoGoGirl aka Lori (happily wearing hot pink socks and black pumps!!!!)

I was thinking of starting to dress like Simon LeBon in "Save a Prayer" actually.. always loved their sense of style... of course he was wearing white, and well.. it's not Memorial Day yet... >grin<

I haven't seen a return of 80's fashion. Although, I wouldn't mind. I loved wearing my Jordache jeans with the zipper ankles and mini socks with pumps. Even the Jordache jeans with the horse on the front and back pocket (I loved those!) and a polo shirt with of course color coordinated hoop earrings....ahhhhh the memories!! Can you tell me where you live?? I'd like to move there!!
