Subject: Can you identify these line of toys?
Oh, boy.
What comes next is a vague description of a bunch of toys that I played with during the mid to late 1980's. They were very much like the Transformers. Robots fighting each other where there is one set of robots that were "good" and another set of robots that are "evil."
When one purchases a toy, it usually comes with a tiny comic book that depicts the battle between these two sets of robots. Sometimes they fought in a desert canyon.
The only other thing I remember distinctly is that on the "evil" side, there was a gigiantic T-REX robot, but it was blind. It was aided by a flying pterydoctal (sp?) that guided the T-REX.
I apologize for the vagueness of my memory, but I sure would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Umm.....how about ROBOTIX? they did a brief comic strip with the TRANSFORMERS comic back in the mid/late 80's, which was drawn and written by Herb Trimpe. Otherwise, could it be Zoids? they were had quite a popular comic strip in the UK.

My kids think the toys you mentioned might be Beast Wars...the two sides are the Evil Predacons and the Maximals. There are several dinosaurs as well as other animals on both sides who transform in to robot-like creatures and most of their battles take place in a desert/canyon. I'm not sure when they came out but my sons have some of the action figures and they have watched the cartoon in the past year. I don't know if this is what you were looking for, hope it helps.

Thanks for the responses Seeker and Lonnie, however, I learned that the line of toys that I've been looking for are called "Starriors." They were an off-shoot of the Zoids.
Here's a link:

They were pretty neat looking toys.
