Subject: 80s fashion
Hi all! My school is having a "Milennium Ball" coming up in two weeks and instead of going all formal everyone has to come dressed as their favorite decade. My boyfriend and I decided on the 80s. I think I have my outfit picked out (think Flashdance/Olivia Newton John Physical) but I'm not sure how to do the stereotypical hair and makeup of the 80s. I've been told I have the right hair to do really big, high hair (like female fans of Jon Bon Jovi) but am not sure how...
If anyone has some tips/advice/pictures I'd appreciate it so much!
What decade would YOU go as?

No 80's outfit would be complete without a proper 80's scent...Obsession for Women/Men, Polo ( of course ), or perhaps Lauren ( for her ). Remember, Jen, it's not how you feel --- it's how you look.

I would certainly do the 80s for something like that. Do you have legwarmers for your outfit? Those are a MUST. Anyway, about the hair--it would be a slight anachronism to do the Bon Jovi style. What would fit the time context more is a "feathered" 'do. You achieve this look by brushing the hair around your face straight back and immediately spraying. You, in effect, freeze the hair as it is pulled down by gravity. Help me out, people! I don't know if this is the best way to explain feathering. You could rent the movie "Little Darlings" and check out the way Tatum O'Neal and Kristy MacNichol have their hair done. If I remember correctly, their hair is a textbook example of the feathered look.

Feathered hair is a great idea, but it might require actually having the layers cut in to get the look...if you are determined to do a mid-80s big-hair look...just blow-dry your hair, with plenty of mousse in it, upside down and DO NOT brush when you are finished(this will cause major frizz), use a pick to arrange your hair and keep spraying the super hold Aqua Net until you get it just right! Warning...you may need quite a bit of conditioner and patience to un-do this look the day after!
