Your song is "Dear Mr. Jesus" by the Christian/religious group called PowerSource, which was mainly the brainchild of arranger/producer/songwriter/vocalist Richard Klender. The song was a minor hit here in the U.S. in the Winter of '88. ("Dear Mr. Jesus" featured an entire group of young kids on vocals, w/ the lead being sung by a girl named Sharon Batts.) The song was off the group's 1986 album, "Shelter from the Storm". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print in all formats, and to the best of my knowledge, "Shelter from the Storm" has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. - or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. (I have the cassette myself, which I still see once in a blue moon while out on my record-store travels. It's not easy to find!)

The liner notes on the album itself had this to say about the song in question:

"A Note to Parents:

'Dear Mr. Jesus' was written because Christians have the biblical responsibility to speak out for what is right, especially on behalf of those who can't help themselves. PowerSource particularly wants to speak to the child who is a victim of abuse and tell that child that Jesus is the answer to his problem. And you and your child can help. Ask your child what Bible truths are taught in the song and how the two of you might share these truths with a friend who doesn't know them. Stimulate your child's awareness of God's plan for the family and the degree to which society's standards vary from His plan. Let your child know that Jesus is the answer for the abuser, as well as the abused. Help us reach that child who needs to know."

Also according to the album's liner notes, the PowerSource organization was located in Bedford, TX (a suburb of Dallas-Ft. Worth). And at the time the album was released in 1986, Jan Batts (I assume she's the mother of Sharon, the little girl who sang lead vocals on "Dear Mr. Jesus") could be reached at the following phone #: (915) 942-1014. Obviously, being that it's now 13 years later, I have no idea if this # is still good today (at the very least, I'm sure the area code has since changed), but you might want to give it a shot...

The name of the song I think your talking about is "Dear Mr. Jesus". It's a little girl singing (and I don't know who) about her mother abusing her. Some of the lyrics went like this, "... and please don't tell my daddy but my mommy hits me too." Or something like that. Hope this helps! Stacey
