Subject: 80's song stuck in my head - PLEASE HELP
OK. I've got an 80's rock song stuck in my head and I can't remember who sang it! The chorus goes something like: "gone, gone, gone, she's been gone so long, she's been gone, gone, gone, so long." (sang in a low, monotone voice).

Kindergarten stuff, LOL! Your "mystery song" is "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)" by Chilliwack, a moderate hit here in the U.S. in the Fall of '81. It was off the Canadian band's 1981 album, "Wanna Be a Star". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print in all formats, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. (I have the cassette myself.) Therefore, the only way you'd be able to get the song today would be on some type of CD compilation of '80s hits by Various Artists (and I know there are at least one or two out there that feature "My Girl").
However, in 1988, up in the band's native Canada, they issued a "Greatest Hits" collection on Chilliwack, and yes, it includes "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)". Fortunately, "Greatest Hits" is still in print today on both cassette & CD (have the cassette of this one as well!), and it's well worth getting - Chilliwack recorded plenty of other great tunes back in the day!
