Subject: Breakfast Club remake a hoax
The IMDB.COM entry has been pretty much all been removed... I heard an interview this morning with Judd Nelson who said he had heard nothing about it, and that there have been rumours every couple of years about it.. so I really doubt this a valid rumour at all.. unless it's wicked top secret.. which I doubt..

THANK GOD!! **dances about the room** I would've been so upset had it been true! Why, I'd rather agonizingly sit through an N'Sync concert than see them butcher one of my all-time favorite films (glad it never came to that)!!

I wondered why would anyone do a remake of that, anyway! I taped that movie to fill out my tape of "The Blues Brothers" and then everybody wanted to watch "The Breakfast Club," which I thought was OK, but "The Blues Brothers" is so much funnier! The reason they were PO'd was that "The Blues Brothers" is a long movie at 2 hours 13 minutes, and they wondered why it took so long to fast-forward to "The Breakfast Club"!

I've always liked your comments around here, "crazydon". And while I usually limit my posts to music-related topics, I will say that "The Breakfast Club" is one movie that has always been close to my heart as well, especially since it did come out around my senior year of HS. I've never been a huge movie buff (unlike music, of course), but that one has to rank in my all-time top 10. (I'm glad this whole thing about a re-make has proven a hoax as well.) Those of us who grew up in the '80s generally like "The Breakfast Club" because we can all relate to it-it was very reality-based; we all knew people like that. It wasn't written as-nor did it really try to be-a comedy, unlike "The Blues Brothers". Another '80s film that also fits this perfectly (i.e., fairly serious ones that cover teen topics) was 1988's "Permanent Record", a well-made yet sadly overlooked and forgotten movie that starred Keanu Reeves (one of his earliest). Man does not live on comedy alone...

I understand where you're coming from. But what it was, as I said again, I sort of liked "The Breakfast Club" myself. But what it was was that I put it on my tape that I put "The Blues Brothers" on as sort-of-filler. But what it was was that although I liked "The Breakfast Club," I liked "The Blues Brothers" better. Actually, it was scheduling by Cinemax, where I got the two movies, that put "The Blues Brothers" first. Actually, saying that "The Blues Brothers" is better than "The Breakfast Club" is like comparing apples to oranges. There's no comparison. But the Cinemax scheduling was what made me put "The Breakfast Club" on second on that tape. But those who wanted to watch "The Breakfast Club" had to fast-forward through 2 hours and 13 minutes of tape just to get to "The Breakfast Club."
