Subject: A very difficult question

I'm looking for the name of an early to mid '80s TV show. It was something of a Raiders of the Lost Ark rip-off. The star owned a seaplane and was on a never-ending (actually only about half a season if that) search for a golden statue or something to that effect. I remember he also had a dog (i Believe named Jake) with a glass eye (yup, a glass eye). He also had the requisite love interst as well as a chubby mechanic who I believe was Hawaiin. If I remember correctly, the opening or ending credits always showed a bunch of monkeys sitting aroung this lost treasure as lava flowed. No I am not crazy this show really existed. By the way, anyone remember who hosted 'Puttin on the Hits?'

It was "Tales of the Gold Monkey" if I'm not mistaken...
