Subject: Reagans Rap
I am trying to figure out who did the Reagans Rap song back in the 80's. It was suppose to be former president Ronald Reagan doing a rap song, but it was just someone doing it for fun. I dont know if it was played out side of Houston Tx, it used to be played on 93Q, which used to be a rock station which it is now a country station. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks

It was indeed played outside of Houston. It was on the air in Vermont and Upstate New York. I remember seeing it for sale in an upstate NY chain record store as well.
"Well I do and say just what I want / And with Congress I always win / So you better let me break and you better let me rap / Or in '88 I'll run again / B-B-B-B-Bush-Bush, George Bush " - Ronnies Rap

After doing a bit of research, I have positively i.d.'d your song! Turns out it was released nationally after all, albeit on an independent label. It was actually titled "Ronnies Rapp" [sic], and was performed by a fictitious rap group named Ron and the D.C. Crew (note tongue-in-cheek group name as well). They were led by a Miami-based D.J. And believe it or not, "Ronnies Rapp" was actually a minor hit on the pop charts here in the U.S. in the Winter of '87!
The song was obviously recorded as a novelty tune, so it was just a one-off single; i.e., there was no full-length album ever released by Ron and the D.C. Crew. So if you wanted "Ronnies Rapp" back in '87, you had to buy the vinyl 45 (and for the record, there was probably a 12" vinyl single as well). Obviously, this single is long out-of-print, and I'd imagine it would be quite hard to find today. I'd be shocked if the song ever found its way onto CD, be it on an '80s compilation, or otherwise. Although I'm pretty sure I've never heard the song, I wouldn't mind having "Ronnies Rapp" on cassette or CD myself (anything but vinyl!). Good luck getting your hands on it!!!

This definitely sounds like a local deal recorded by the Houston DJ's at 93Q as a novelty song, and of course played exclusively on that station. If it became that popular around Houston, 93Q probably released an entire album at that time which included the song, along w/ other novelty tunes, pranks, etc. by the DJ's. This practice was not uncommon in the '80s, and is still done today. Your best bet is to check used record stores in the Houston area...
