Subject: news video lurking in my memory
I remember coming home one night and flipping on the news, only to see video shot somewhere (possibly South or Central America) of a group of people marching and demonstrating in the street. From the camera angle, you could see a tank coming toward the intersection from a cross-street. When it got to the corner, the machine-gun mounted on top open-fired on the crowd. The camera watched as the machine-gun walked through the crowd from furthest to closest. Suddenly the tree in-front-of and to the right exploded and then the camera whipped through the air as the camera-man was shot as well. While the camera still filmed, you saw the reporter and another person crawling wounded on the ground... then it went off. I never did find out where, who, what, or anything else... but getting shot like that has become permanently etched in my memory. Does anyone have information about that. Sorry, I don't even remember exactly when it happened. But it was an image of the '80s, I'll never forget. Randy
