Subject: Who sings this song?
Howdy folks, NOt alot to go on, but the name of the song is "You are the One" (or so I've been told) and it's by some guy whose first name is Chris. I don;t know the last name, and I'm trying to find out for a friend, so I'm not really even sure what it sounds like. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Your date is off (you said you thought it was from the mid '80s; in fact, it's not even an '80s song), but I have a positive i.d. for you. Your song is "You Are the One" by (then) teen singer Chris Cuevas, a moderate hit in the Winter of '92. It would prove to be his only hit, making him a "one-hit wonder" of sorts. The song was off his debut album, "Somehow, Someway", released in late 1990. As you can tell, "You Are the One" didn't even manage to become a hit until a little over a year after the album first came out. Unfortunately, "Somehow, Someway" has been out-of-print since 1995, although the album was issued on CD here in the U.S. It's worth noting that late '80s/early '90s pop star Debbie Gibson contributed to the album, and in fact, when I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Gibson about two years ago, I actually discussed former Atlantic labelmate Chris Cuevas w/ her (they performed a duet on his album, and I believe she was even responsible for getting him signed to Atlantic). To help your friend put the song "You Are the One" in perspective, it was climbing the charts at the same time that "To Be With You" by Mr. Big was at #1, and "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, "Save the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams, "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton, and "Masterpiece" by Atlantic Starr were all also riding in the top 10...
Subject: Thanks a million
Thanks man, I appreciate it. Heres a second question then, since that sounds like a positive ID. If the album is out of print, what might be the best idea as far as hunting down a copy. What would you suggest... (I only ask since it sounds like you are very knowledgable about music.) Thanks again for the help. ...thOm...
