Subject: This site may be going down for a little while

Written By: ChuckyG on 9/28/2001 at 10:48 p.m.

as well as inthe70s.com, inthe90s.com and worcestermass.com (amiright and a couple of my other sites should be fine).. I am having problems with my current webhost, which I may not be able to resolve without moving everything to a totally new provider. I'm of course going to want to move it as quickly as possible, but I'm sure most everything will be broken if I do.. so just a little heads up

What exactly are we supposed to do without this board? I trust that you will go without sleep for however long it takes to get everything back up and running...

Yes, Chucky, please. What's a few nights without sleep compared to our enjoyment of your site? LOL... hope it's not down for too long..

the board is probably one of the roughest things I have to move, if I do end up having to move.. I might just end up installing new software, or putting up a temporary one until I could port the new one..

I might not even have to move.. I just have a really big bill I can't figure out from the webhost, a couple of them.. I do know of a better webhost to use, so I can at least transition the site pretty quickly.. I'm going to try and back the whole thing up (it's mostly backed up, but not completely) just incase I've been getting ripped off..

worst case scenrio, is I just post a link to amiright and tell people to post in that messageboard until they're back up.. that site is hosted with a different company (and so is amiwrong, I could always set them up there too since I pay for hosting and have never done anything with it)

this is more of a warning.. these web hosting companies tend to be a bit shady.. and this one bought out the people I used to go through.. and thus made it impossible to figure out what was going on with my billing.. last weekend inthe80s.com was unreachable for two days.. which is also total BS.. I should get a couple of dollars back at the very least for that one.. I never even got a response to my service request.. so I'm really getting fed up with these guys..

I wish the site made a lot of money so I could afford a dedicated server, that I could setup somewhere, and if I had to, could just move all the sites without having to reset everything..

the real disappointment for me at least, is I was just about half way through converting all my scripts into a better means of updating the various pages. now I don't want to continue until I can figure out what's going on with these people

I wish I had resources and/or enough knowledge about these things to help you because I really do feel your pain. Hopefully someone else here will have a tip or two. In any case, whatever you do and however long it takes - I'm not going anywhere.
