Subject: A very vague memory
I have this memory of an old 80's TV show that's so vague, I wonder if it was a dream or not. Could someone please help me identify it if it was real? I don't remember anything about it except two details:
1. One of the characters was a nerdy-looking guy with black(?) hair and glasses.
2. There was also this robot (I was wildly obsessed with robots back when I was a child. Still am, but to a lesser degree.) I seem to recall that it was orange, with some kind of snout or muzzle, beady black eyes, and pinchers, and couldn't talk. (It made noises instead.) I think the nerdy guy mentioned above had something to do with it.
The show was live-action/adventure, took place in the present time (it wasn't sci-fi or anything) and was aimed at adults. I was about three years old when I saw it, so my memory might be distorted.
Was this a real show? If so, what show was it?

Yeah it was Riptide. Go to the Stephen J. Cannell homepage, http://www.cannell.com and you will find information on all the shows he created. I think there is a link there for a fan created website for Riptide, and many other Cannell shows like A-Team and Hunter.

Riptide.

I remember it, it also had Dirk Benedict ("Starbuck" on Battlestar Galactica, "Face" on The A-Team). I haven't seen it in a LONG time, I wonder when it will see the light of day again.

Benedict was not part of the Riptide cast. I think you're confusing him with Perry King.

John, you're right, I had only vague memories of the show too, and once I found the fan sites, I soon realized my memory was wrong.
