Subject: Mad Movies: LA Connection
Does anyone know of "Mad Movies" by the LA Connection? It was a show on Nickolodean (sp?)I believe, back in the 80's. I am trying to find out if those shows are available on video so if you have any information I'd love to hear about it - this group was hilarious rewriting the dialogue of old movies and dubbing over the sound. Would love to get my hands on these tapes!

Amazing!
On March 8th, I posted a similar query, with no response. Nearly half a year later (almost *exactly* five months), I re-discovered this page in my bookmark file and, expecting nothing new, found that another has brought up the topic--yesterday, no less!

Here's a few things I dug up from Deja.com for someone else, a while back...
"Magus" (magus@yebb.com) posted in late January of a tape of "Lady in Green", a spoof of a Sherlock Holmes movie, in alt.video.tape-trading. He could probably still make you a copy. Also, Jerry Roche (Roche1972@webtv.net) has a 2-hour tape containing one episode of Mad Movies ("Under California Stars"). That info was posted last December, but may still be good. The L.A. Connection's official site (www.laconnectioncomedy.com) also has a few video clips up, but their method of downloading them doesn't seem to work for me...
Is there anything else you could tell me about this series? I know that Paul Rugg (my personal reason for interest--I've devoted a fan page t'him) was one of the members of the L.A. Connection at the time... And I'm assuming that Kent Skov was, as well. Someone also added Bob Buchholz to the IMDb entry for "Mad Movies" (which you may wish to check out). Here's what else I've heard, cobbled together into a bulging paragraph as sent to the same person I originally found those tape deals for...
A pilot was produced in '84 (though the show seems to have first aired in '85 [or did it?]). There were 26 half-hour episodes. Movies covered include "The Little Princess" (1934) (the new version of which had Shirley Temple possessed [or was it her doll?]), "D.O.A" (1950) (Desi Arnaz is searching for "Rucy"), "You Can't Take it with You" (1938), and "Night of the Living Dead" (1968). Bought by "Nick at Nite" in '87 for a two-year run, then by MTV for a three years in '89. Another quote from the Shirley Temple episode (where the scene is of a man happily dancing while reading a letter) goes something like: "Let's see--'Exorcism instructions: Walk like a jerk across the floor/This will summon the demon Lenore'...". The theme song (in wave format) may be downloaded here: http://soundamerica.com/sounds/themes/Television/M-N/madmovie.wav
And that's pretty much what I know about that (and who knows how accurate any of that is?). So... how 'bout you?
