Subject: Fashion in 1983-1985
This is probably a really dumb question But I love the 80's music but I am wonderding what people wore in the years 1980-1985 what kind of suits were there, and what was casual, If someone can give me picture of those fashions I will be quite grateful.

This is sort of a late response, but you'd find some other good examples of 80's fashion in the movies "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (released in 1982--this flick also gives you a pretty fair representation of the hairstyles of that time), also "Valley Girl" (1983), and the 1980 Tim Hutton movie "Ordinary People," (for an example of early 80's style). Another great one to check out is "Weird Science," which captured that '85 "Bennetton look" to a T...particularly the outfits worn by Gary and Wyatt's girlfriends: baggy sweaters, tight skirts, ankle boots, and big chunky bracelets and earrings.

People didn't dress that differently back then, but I remember the preppy look was in, kind of like you see in Sixteen Candles or Family Ties reruns. Then there was the punk kind of look. Have you ever been to that site The Eighties Server? There is a picture on that site of this guy who's kind of punk looking and it cracks me up because I remember people dressing just like that.

want that around the time that the whole sweater tied around the neck thing was popular? (i know it was during the 80s but i think it was at its high point around then) and guys didnt wear socks with their loafers right? and i seem to remember girls wearing a lot of pink and lots of striped shirts for some reason (and neon i think was just huge throughout the whole decade) and so were shoulder pads and blazers or cardigans (ugh! shoulder pads were the worst!) but i think that was more around 88 and 89 and into the early 90s
