Subject: A Good Day To Be Sick

Written By: Wicked Lester on 8/3/2001 at 6:29 p.m.

I did the old Ferris Bueller trick today - called in sick when there was nary a thing ailing me. But my batteries were low and needed a recharge, which I felt would best be accomplished by lounging around the house all day.

Now, what does this have to do with anything? Here's what. Today was one of those rare channel surfing days, and in my surfing I caught one of my favorite (and one of the most underrated) 80s movies, Peggy Sue Got Married. I hadn't sen it in ages, and I caught it from the beginning on AMC. Those who haven't watched it recently should do so.

Treat #2, on TV Land. Apparently this is a regular Friday feature (I'm not usually home at 4 on Fridays so I don't know), but some guy who won their Ultimate Fan contest gets to program an hour of content. Today it was 2 episodes of the 70s Saturday morning children's show "Shazam!". I haven't seen that since I was a kid, and needless to say I was quite thrilled I wish TV Land would do a Fandemonium with all those 70s live action children's shows. I know some of you are several years younger than me, but some of you probably watched these shows as well. Sid& Marty Kroft did lots of them.

Sounds like a great day! I would love to have some of those Shazam episodes on tape! I have some of the Sid & Marty Kroft on tape courtesy of Columbia House's Re-TV club! I work for Sony, one of C.H.s parent companies. Therefore I get movies, cd's, and DVD's at DEEPLY discounted prices from C.H. I'm trying to get the whole Kroft collection. Espcially all of the Electra-Woman and Dyna-Girl episodes. Was I the only boy who thought Dyna-Girl was hot?

TV Land did have a Krofft marathon about a year ago. Land of the Lost, H.R. Pufnstuf, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Bugaloos, they had it all!

I remember them airing H.R. Puffenstuff and the Bugaloos on Saturday mornings before they started doing the all weekend marathons, but I didn't know they did a Fandemonium with them.

It wasn't a Fandemonium, but they had several episodes in a row, IIRC.
