Subject: Death of the first 80's station
I have some sad news for all 1980's fanatics.
Star 107.9 in Columbus, OH was the first all-80's radio station in America. For the last few years, whenever I was in my car and I wanted to hear a good song from the 80's, I would turn my stereo to this high frequency. But in the last week, the station unexpectedly was replaced with an oldies format. (The former oldies station in Columbus now plays current VH1-type music.) I'm only 19, but I remember enough of the 80's to know that it was better time than now and the past decade, and although I follow current music, I still enjoy the 80's style a lot. I especially liked the "Rock of the 80's" show on Thursday nights-- all hair bands and heavy metal.
Let's hope that a new 80's station can spring up in the area. Star 107.9 started the trend, so it may find a replacement.

P.S. Isn't this just another example of baby boomers cheating Generation Xers? And I don't even know what generation I'm in.

I had heard about this station changing formats on another board. That truly is heartbreaking, especially seeing that this was the first station to switch to an all-80s format in the country. Let's just hope another station can pick up where they left off, soon!!!
