Subject: 80s MTV
It would be nice if MTV would actually play some music videos and pay a little homage to all of the wonderful 80s stuff that made MTV so great back in the day. Let's face it, if MTV started out back in the 80s what it is today, nobody would have watched it and it would have disappeared ASAP. The music and videos of the 80s is what defined MTV in the early years, and music is why I watched it. I didn't watch MTV to see countless hours of the Clearasil set shaking up in spacious apartments or to see thousands of pre-teen girls slobbering deliriously over some talentless boy-band! The 80s made MTV, and they had better show it some respect, gosh darnit!!!

I'm from small town Canada and we only had MTV for 1 year before we got the much diluted lukewarm version called MuchMusic but I taped countless hours of video and can still watch the sexy Nina Blackwood and the cuter-than-cute Martha Quinn And who can forget the ultra-cool "triple J" J.J. Jackson? Why did they make such drastic changes? MTV used to rule...now I'd rather watch Baywatch! LOL

I think MTV's missing the boat in terms of their history. If I was in charge of MTV, I'd start a brand new channel that essentially replayed MTV from Day One and worked it forward... replay it all in order... the videos, the old interviews... think of all of us who grew up during that time... how many of us would be glued to the TV again just like we were when we were younger?

Well...Why don't we all write or e-mail MTV and suggest this to them? It's been my experience that media will respond if they see enough people want to see or hear something. Anybody got an address for them?
