Subject: Anybody Ever Heard Of This?

Written By: ? on 7/19/2001 at 10:58 p.m.

While doing a search for Petula Clark last night I ran across something odd. Apparently there was a band in the late 80s called The Justified Ancients Of Mumu. They had a song which was a bizarre combination of Petula Clark's "Downtown" and Alex Chilton's "Jesus Christ Was Born Today", with other lyrics as well. Anybody ever heard of this group and song?

personally, i have never heard of them. but now you have me interested......... apparently they were into sampling other artist's music. i tried to find some mp3 files and came up with 2 - 'the queen and i' and 'downtown'. i found a site tho which i attached. if you do a search for JAMS or justified ancients of mumu, you will get a bunch of interesting sites.

The Justified Ancients of Mumu (JAMS) were aka the Timelords, known for their club hit "Doctorin' the Tardis" in the late 80's. They were aka The KLF ("3 A.M. Eternal") in early 90's. Hope this helps.
