Subject: Don't Stand So Close to Me

Written By: Alison Hall on 7/12/2001 at 2:05 p.m.

Does anyone know if it's the Police or Sting who sings this song? I don't know the official title but the chorus goes "Don't stand so close to me" and the singer references that book by Nabokov (Lolita). Thanks.

It is "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by the Police (Sting on vocals of course) off Zenyatta Mondatta from 80.

And don't forget the horrible '86 version of that song. That version is on their greatest hits collection.

You said it, brother! A record club I once belonged to had that greatest hits CD with only the sucky '86 version on it in their bargain bin for $2 but I passed on it. I got their later greatest hits CD that not only has the original version on it but that horrid '86 version on it too. The '86 version doesn't even sound like the same song!
