Subject: What's In Your CD Changer?

Written By: Wicked Lester on 6/30/2001 at 12:38 a.m.

And if your changer isn't loaded, which 5 CDs have you listened to the most lately?

Here's what I've got loaded.

1. REO Speedwagon - The Second decade of Rock and Roll 1981-1991

2. Movie Soundtrack - Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

3. Eric Clapton - Reptile

4. The Charlatans - Melting Pot

5. Talk Talk - Natural History

The REO is mostly live, but has a studio version of "Variety Tonight", a largely forgotten song that should have been a hit.

The Clapton is his latest release and has some good stuff on it. It isn't as good as Pilgrim, but still a good collection.

The Charlatans (or Charlatans UK as they were known here) are 90s, but are still a very good band. Most of you will probably recognize "The Only One I Know", but this greatest hits collection is full of great music.

Finally, Talk Talk's hits collection has my personal favorite by them, "Life's What You Make It", both the studio and a live cut. This song could have been included on my list of favorite non-hits from a couple weeks ago.

...that my cd changer would have, pretty much, synth-based music, so here we go:

Living room:

1. Una Lucertola Con La Pelle Di Donna by Ennio Morricone.

2. Ultra Lounge Sampler.

3. Avalon by Roxy Music.

4. Albinioni Sampler.

5. The Best Of Bert Kaempfert.

In the bedroom:

1. Medusa by Clan Of Xymox.

2. Pelican West Plus by Haircut 100.

3. The Anvil by Visage

4. Republic by New Order.

5. Some Great Reward by Depeche Mode.

Lester, I like your taste. I used to have an album with "Life's What You Make It" way way back in 1984 and I remember that I always liked that song a lot. I hadn't thought about it in years, but now you've inspired me now to get the album again (only this time on CD). Thanks!

Yes, I'm busted. I don't know how to italicize. And after the whole broohaha I made too...

Danny Elfman - Solo
My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult - Kooler Than Jesus
Comp - KROQ Flashbacks at Noon
Comp - 80's Dance Rarities, The Modern Mix
Comp - Various Artists for the Masses (the Depeche tribute. I'm sorry, I love it.)

It was housecleaning day, needless to say.
