Subject: Guess What I Bought?
I stopped off at this used CD place I go to and found some really good stuff, all on compilations.
1. Out Of Bounds: A Journey Through Modern Rock
This has Jon Astley, Morrisey, Erasure, Lemonheads, Dead Can Dance and lots more.
2. Living in Oblivion Vol. 2
Thompson Twins, Haircut 100, Kate Bush, Sigue Sigue Sputnik etc. It was only 2 bucks!! I used to have this one, but I took it to a party one night and someone decided that they wanted it more than I did.
3. That Sound From Down Under
All Aussie all the time - INXS, Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House, Real Life, The Church, etc.
4. Rock Of The 80's Vol. 15
Big Country, GTR, Paul Hardcastle, The Knack...
5. Rock The First Vol. 1
Power Station, Robbie Nevil, David Lee Roth, Robert Palmer...
All this for under 30 bucks. Not bad, eh?

You got a VERY good deal, Lester.
I've been collecting the "Just Can't Get Enough New Wave Hits of the 80s" set from Rhino. It's decent, but not as good as their "D.I.Y." series for the punk and power pop scene. The "Just Can't" series has fewer songs per CD than the "D.I.Y." CDs and the liner notes aren't nearly as good. Still, it's a good collection.
I have "Living in Oblivion" Vol. 1. It's not bad, somewhat more dance-oriented, but it's decent.
The "Richard Blade Flashback Favorites" series on Oglio Records has a lot of stuff on it as well. Many are the 12" and remix verions that aren't on CD elsewhere.
Lucky you. I hardly ever find any good used 80s comps (though I did find some of the "DIY" CDs used or in cut-outs.

I've been buying a lot of 80s compilations, too. Cheap! Anything that will get me closer to my goal of having a copy of every song released in the 80s. The good, the bad, and the downright ugly!
