: I just heard that Carroll O'Connor has died.
I remember watching All In The Family when it was originally on in the '70's when I was a kid, and I remember liking it. But I didn't really love the show untill I was much older and started watching the re-runs on TV Land, I believe. It is one of the greatest shows to ever be on T.V., and had a great balance of humor, politics, and even sad moments at times. I even read Carroll's auto-biography, which was excellent. I didn't care for In The Heat Of The Night at all, but his portrayal as Archie Bunker touched my life as well as millions around the world. He was appreciated by many, and will be missed.

I also remember when the show aired originally, and my dad always watched it... seems like it may have aired after 60 Minutes on Sunday nights during its later years. Anyway, there was so much stuff that went over my head as a kid that I was able to enjoy as an adult watching the reruns. A truly innovative show that would never make it to air today.
