Written By: Mary Beth on 5/19/2001 at 6:03 a.m.

Hi. I got my hands on a computer from a local elementary school. We are using this one strictly for my kids to play games on. It does have Windows 95. Therefore.....I am looking for some "way back" CD's with the following system requirements: Windows 95/98, 3.1, 386 or 486 proc, 33MHz or faster, 8MB Ram, 256 colors and it has a soundcard. Keep in mind my the age range is 3-8yrs old. Can anyone direct me as to where to look???????

Thanks - Mary Beth

Your not going to find much in stores. Most software is off the shelves after a few months. A few years at the most.

The most I can recommend is going to Babbages, Electronics Boutique, Software etc, or something else and look around there. I know they usually have some kids games that fit those requiremnts.

Keep in mind that most things in the computer field are very outdated after even 2 years, and MOST software won't last that long. Some games I bought just last year are long past gone.

Also, you will RARELY find "way back" CDs. Once in a while a game publisher will bring back a game for nostalgia, or perhaps some copies didn't sell at the time. Still, I can count the times on one hand that I've seen old games for sale again.

Go to google or another major search engine and look for 386/486 windows 95 games. I have found several myself that would run on that setup.
